Pandering
Is there such a thing as pandering for the "white vote"? I'd love to hear your reasonable responses.

Re: Pandering
Well, SFCraig, the white vote is not monolithic, whereas African Americans who vote have been going 90-10 for the Democrats since the Great Depression.
However, as Sam has already noted, politicians pander to anyone and everyone. If someone is a Mormon Mestizo Indian who likes tacos and guzzles White Zinfandel at Yogurt bars in Berkeley, California; McCain, Clinton, and Obama will want his vote and will pander for it. McCain will talk about entrepeneurship in the yogurt bar, Clinton will wax idiotic about her days as a yogurt barista, and Obama will pretend he likes cheap White Zinfandel with his tacos and is a distant cousin of Joseph Smith.

Re: Pandering
More specifically, I want to know if you consider anything explicitly "white" pandering? For example, when Hillary said she was Jewish she was rightly criticized as pandering for the Jewish vote. When a politician says he supports affirmative action it is considered pandering for the black vote.
Mike, your argument is moot, because the "black vote" used to be solidly Republican. Are you saying that Republicans don't pander to them but will pander to the other demographic groups? Politicians only pander to those that already vote for them?
