Should we drop the dollar for the Amero?
Is it time for new currency?
http://www.gold-eagle.com/editorials_05/kirby062806.html
With the obvious movement toward more trade and amalgamation of economies, is it time for a common currency among the North American countries?
Since the dollar is no longer redeemable for gold, what difference is there if it is called a dollar or an Amero?
Why should we have to convert to pesos or Canadian dollars?
Wouldn't one common currency be simpler?
Especially with the advent of the NAFTA highway, CAFTA, etc.?

Unless the United States of America is looking to expand and Mexico and/or Canada are willing to come into OUR country as states, I don't see this happening. At least not in my lifetime.

Re: Is it time for new currency?
Illegal immigrants, Pedro and Pancho, panhandle at busy intersections. Pedro only gets a few dollars a day. Pancho gets thousands!
Pedro asks, "How do you get so much?"
Pancho says, "Let me see your sign."
Pedro shows him his sign. It reads, "No job. Need money for wife and kids."
Pancho says, "That's your problem! My sign says, 'Want to go back to Mexico--only need $10 more.' "

Re: Is it time for new currency?
Well Terry I don't know for sure but I would venture to guess republicans hire more illegal immigrants than Democrats do.
What do you think?

Do you have any idea what a partisan hack you sound like when you post stuff like this?

Now ShermanGeneral, ....... you sure as hell do "know for sure" that Republicans do hire more illegal immigrants than Democrats do.
And you also know the two (2) primary reasons they do it.
First, Democrats really don't give a damn about keeping their house and things "fixed up", in good repair and looking nice ......... so they ain't about to be hiring someone to do it, ...... ESPECIALLY if they have to "pay them" out of their own pocket just to sit around "doing nothing" like they themselves are used to doing.
And secondly, the Republicans are actually FORCED TO hire more illegal immigrants because all the potential employees who don't have a job .... but are physically fit and capable of working ....... are all registered as Democrats and don't want a job even iffen you tried to hire them ........ because they make out better with all the "entitlements" the Democrat Politicians give them for keeping them "voted in" to their political Office.
GEEEZE, they are no "dummies", iffen they went to work for a Republican ...... they would actually have to work ........ and give up their "free medical cards", ..... clothing vouchers, ..... WIC coupons, ..... Food Stamps, ...... Earned Income Credit check, ...... free School meals, .... etc., etc., etc.
GEEEZUS, they would be losing money ....... and especially all that "free time" that they now got for doing what they like to do and for spending what they do get.

Yes'm Ms Moderator.
Looking back over the posts I can see I am the one who is partisan and offensive.
Loving eyes never see, and I can see you are totally enamored with your rightwing wacko comrades on here.
But just for the record, who do you think is hiring the illegals?

She didn't say you were offensive - she said you were partisan. You are.

Re: Is it time for new currency?
I believe the term was partisan hack to be more specific.
One would expect the head mistress would be less pejorative and more diplomatic with her insults but what can we expect for what we are paying her?
Did you notice she has not denied the suggestion that her partisans hire more illegals than mine.
Although her partisans are the ones demagoging the issue of illegal immigration.
Maybe that touched a nerve and that is why she decided to poke me with her pusillanimous putdowns.
Or maybe it's just a bad day at the ranch who knows.

Re: Is it time for new currency?
I'm just sick and tired of having some people trying to pit citizens against each other.
I'm tired of listening to pandering and lies every time I turn on the news.
I'm tired of hearing about Rev Wright and Hillary's philandering husband and Sen. McCain's wife's money.
I'm really getting tired of listening to all fluff no substance. I'm sick and tired of being told we're too stupid, too incompetent, and too damaged to take care of ourselves. I'm sick to my stomach that many of our citizens want a nanny state. I'm ready to have a stroke hearing about how selfish/racist/hateful etc we are for wanting to take care of America & Americans first and not hand over our sovereignty to every illegal alien "seeking a better life" or fork over a certain percentage of our GDP to other nations.
This forum has been functioning since the end of December. Only one time have I ever used my "powers" as administrators to interfer with the posts. (A decision I still question) I have tried my very best just to let you all have at each other and me under the somewhat misguided notion that we are all adults, and to some degree friends.
Stephanie the person thinks you sound like a partisan hack. The administrator just thinks you're expressing your opinions.

I am going to hire an illegal alien to respond to your accusation. Do you know where I can hire one?

Quebec. Even though they speak a version of French, the girls are sweet.
Even if I shouldn't eat at the restaurant, I still like to look at the menu...

Re: Is it time for new currency?
Terry, I like the way you think, but I'm afraid we'd have to split the difference and end up with Manitoba.
Interestingly enough, polls have consistently indicated that around 25% of Canadians would prefer to be annexed by the US. Obviously nothing that drastic is on the horizon anytime soon, but a common currency might be a good starting point. Just thinking long-term here.
