I'm not sure if Pelosi is in SFCraig's district since she had to move to run for it, but how will he ever find this thread if it isn't under "Callyfornya"?

I am saying that some of us aren't as prosperous as we pretend to be.
Some people keep themselves poor by trying to pretend that they are rich.
How many i-phone purchaser can really afford an i-phone?
How many would be better off putting that money into winterizing their homes?
Now Ziggy that is an excellent point.
But what can we do about the silliness of the American consumer? Perhaps any cure would be worse than the disease.
As it often is, unless of course there is government involvement. Upon government intervention, the cure is definitely worse then the disease.

Re: More naysayers critical of economy....
I think that's right.
I wonder how much real good would be done if, instead of using their many millions on trying to stop global warming, environmentalist groups began writing checks to insulate houses, set up solar panels, etc., to people who make less than a certain amount per year. I think an actor has begun doing this already.
Then these groups can offer subsidies to those who make more. Considering what a cash cow gloabl warming has proven to be, I can't help but think this country can be revolutionized even WITHOUT government coercion.

The "cure" for not living in a well winterized home is either freezing to death or paying more thousands of dollars each year for heating fuel. So is the cure really worse than the disease?

As opposed to the government taking billions of American taxpayer dollars as the solution?
Why should Floridian’s or Texan's or Californian’s pay to winterize homes in upstate NY, Minnesota, NK or Maine?
Yes, for American's, the cure is worse then the disease!!!

I did not say that, and I do not believe that they should.
But I do believe that consumers in upstate NY, Minnesota, NK or Maine as well as West Virginia and all over should winterize their homes before buying zillions of ipods. A home secure against the elements is more important than the latest electronic gadget made in Asia. It is a matter of personal responsibility.

Re: More naysayers critical of economy....
Are you saying American's aren't propsperous Frank?
As evidenced by what?
By the quality of their housing?
Or by how many movies they attend or how many ipods they buy?
I suggest that a better measure of how prosperous people are is the quality of their housing.
And I can't help but wonder how many of those ipod purchasers maybe have the poorest housing.

Perhaps if we as a society didn't give so much freely without asking for anyting in return, we wouldn't have those living in the poorest housing buying ipod, iphones and other luxury items they do not need. This is the perfect example of the cure creating a much worse disease, don't you agree!!!
