A sweet deal, no intere$t on borrowed money.
A Charleston woman who stole more than $24,000 from an elderly woman she was caring for will spend 30 days in jail and five years on probation.
Kanawha Circuit Judge Irene Berger sentenced Danielle Harvey, 33, of Bradford Street on Wednesday. Harvey was a caregiver for Mary F. Figg of Charleston.
The judge also ordered Harvey to perform 200 hours of community service and make restitution by paying Figg $400 a month. She also must pay corrections fees of $20 per month.
Harvey stole the money by forging 28 stolen checks between January and September 2007. She was arrested in November and pleaded guilty in May to 28 counts of forgery and one count of grand larceny.

At $400 per month and a 5 year loan, there is no way in hell she will be able to pay back working at minimum wage. Besides, who is going to hire a thieving embezzler, even at minimum wage.
So, without a job, she cant be forced to pay that $400 per month . but she will be eligible for one or more of the freebie Government programs of cash, food, etc.
And that little old lady is up the creek without a paddle and no hope of ever getting her money back.
Reminds me of the time a Lawyer from down around Spencer I believe, stole something like $80,000 from an older client in his 70's ........ and the Judge order the Lawyer to repay it at $100 per month.
That would have taken 67.4 years to pay it off.

Sam,
We may just find out very soon how that pans out in the real world. My neighbor plead guilty to arson (for burning down a trailer she lived in but did not own)
She is on probation and ordered to make restitution but does not work. She is married and her husband works but he flat out refuses to make those payments for her. Her probation officer has so far threatened her, but she still isn't making the payments. Her husband seems to think she is about to be locked up for violating the terms of her probation.
I'll let you know if they ever throw her in the clink.
