Can one imagine "Saturday Night Live" doing weekly send-ups of Michelle Obama and her "I've never been proud" of my country, this "just downright mean" America, using a black comedienne to mimic and mock her voice and accent?

"Saturday Night Live" would be facing hate-crime charges.

Boo hoo.

Palin didn't have to appear on the show.

Buchanan needs to man up.

Right, Palin appeared on the show. Obama wouldn't have. She'd be hauling them into court. That's the difference.

C'mon. SNL has been lampooning Pelosi for months.

I didn't se ol' Pat getting his panties in a knot over that.

Pelosi doesn't have that race card in her hand.

SNL has always made fun of political figures. Way back in the day I so enjoyed the bumbling Gerald Ford. This is nothing new.

Anyway, do I have to point out the fallacy of the bare assertion.

There is no evidence that Michelle Obama wouldn't be as good a sport as Sarah Palin.

I suppose it is unfair to single out Michelle Obama and say she would do what has historically been done by people in her situation before her.

I will point out that the race card is used by Obama supporters whenever it suits their purpose. I don't know why it is such a leap to think they would do so if SNL were to mock Michelle in the same fashion they have been mocking Palin.

In any event, Palin has been a very "good sport" about the whole thing and she gets kudos from me for that, particularly when former SNL cast members like Cheddar Cheese are spouting off at the mouth about how Tina Fey should "shred" Palin....like we should value what he thinks about anything.

Where? Show me an example of Obama supporters playing the race card? Didn't I warn you about the bare assertion fallacy?

I hear people like Buchanan make this accusation all of the time but yet have to see evidence of it fro the Obama camp.

Oh good grief. Let's see if this will go through this time. 4.8kps here, Terry.

Fortunately, I don't have to look too far.

From the Obamamaniac who tried to have this forum shut down:

Will we be viewed as racist
by lindaredtail on Sat 10 May 2008 - 10:22

I am not from WV. But I have traveled in WV. And I believe that you are good hearted earnest people. Do not allow a political candidate to define who you are as a state and a people. That you would not vote for someone because of the color of their skin. I don't believe that of the people of WV. Prove me right on Tuesday. Vote for unity not divisiveness. Vote for progress not regression. Vote your conscience.

From the only forum member that missed her even a moment:

Re: Will we be viewed as racist...
by shermangeneral on Sat 10 May 2008 - 15:34

Well Linda let me welcome you as well.

We definitely need some more progressive voices here.

You will soon see what I mean if you have not already.

I have not been a big supporter of either Clinton or Obama, but am somewhat turned off when so-called progressives imply that if one does not support Obama then they are either ignorant, racist, or part of the in-crowd.

I think when Obama boosters make those implications they diminish Obama's chances in the fall if he does win the nomination.

Those were Sherm's words back in May. I'm sure ole Lovin' Eyes has had a change of heart now that Obama is the nominee with a (D) after his name. Still, there it is!

The opinion of a couple of ultra leftists doesn't equal your accusation that Michelle Obama would play the race card if lampooned on SNL.

If the Obama campaign is truly playing the race card, surely you can come up with a REAL example or three.

Terry,

I did exactly what you requested...Linda is an Obama supporter, she joined this forum specifically to encourage West Virginians to vote Obama and she used his race as her primary reason why we must do so. BTW..the ultra leftists are Obama's base.

It matters little what quotes I post for you from the likes of Jeremiah Wright or even Michelle Obama herself. The simple fact of the matter is that you loathe Sarah Palin so much you have decided to go against your own conservative principles and vote for Obama. Your mind is made up.

I won't vote for Barack Obama because he is a socialist who won't even vote to protect the lives of babies born alive during botched abortions. He lacks experience in every area of critical importance and he hasn't presented a credible plan to improve any of the myriad of problems facing our nation or her people today. He's a great public speaker. Perhaps he should go into broadcasting, but he certainly should not be the leader of this country.

I guess you have missed the posts where I have stated that I will likely not vote for president in this election.

That being said, did you see my quote from Teddy Roosevelt about a living wage? Did you see were Eisenhower put a 91% tax on people that made over 400K?

How about the new National Socialism of this recent bailout?

How do you tell one socialist from another, Steph?

So, where has anyone in the official Obama campaign played the race card? Where is your evidence to back the bare assertion that Michell Obama would have screamed "prejudice" if SNL lampooned her?

Don't be a dittohead.

Several people, including now both Stephanie and Aaron, have said this-that he is a great public speaker. Yet you don't seem to find him convining. I would think that a great public speaker would be convincing to those who think that his speaking ability is so "great".

I am not suggesting that either of you should let Obama convince you of anything. But in this context- what do you mean when you say that he's a "great public speaker"?

The Clinton's would say South Carolina and Georgia in the primaries. Stephanies assertation is one first made by democrats back in March and April and did not originate from the right Terry.

The Clinton's would say South Carolina and Georgia in the primaries.

And they wouldn't have said anything strange to push Hillary to win the primaries.

So, where has the Obama campaign played the race card? Since everyone knows it has happened, pony up with some examples.

I mean he is very motivational. I wasn't going to share this here but....

On Monday evening I attended a dinner where Arch Moore was the keynote speaker. Ziggy, that guy was amazing. It is no wonder West Virginians kept electing him to public office. He was absolutely enthralling. Halfway through his speech I wanted to knock the teeth out of the SOB's who sent him to prison. Listening to his speech was a pleasure. It was truly magnificent, and that was for a little dinner in Hurricane. lol

Barack Obama has the same sort of thing going on. He's charismatic, some of his speeches are almost mesmerizing. Like Moore he is charming, and seems very approachable. I think for all of there many differences this is a trait that Obama and Moore share.

There have been people like them throughout history. Sometimes they reach incredible heights of power. People gravitate towards them. One of the most notorious examples of this in the past century was Adolph Hitler. Not that I think Moore or Obama share Hitler's depravity. Yet even Hitler had his detractors from the beginning.

I'm just not buying what Obama is selling.

If I could take one attribute from Obama and deliver it to Ron Paul it would be his speaking abilities.
