Sometimes I like to sit around and ponder stuff like this.
If Ted Stevens is re-elected despite his conviction will he still be eligible to serve?
If not, would the Alaska Governor not appoint a re-placement?
And could she not appoint herself?
That would solve all her problems in Alaska, plus put her in the national limelight more.
Just a thought.

Re: Will it be Senator Palin?
Nevermind scratch that.
I just found where being convicted of a felony does not disqualify him from serving.
The rule apparently is that the Senate can expel him with a 2/3 vote, but I dont think anyone can see that happening.
So he would have to resign on his own in order for her to appoint herself.

It's very likely that Alaskaians will not send Stevens back to Washington, but will instead send his democratic challenger.

Well dang Aaron that is at least two times lately you have been right.
I guess that one came in under my radar. I assumed he would win.
"...The Alaska senate seat, long considered safely Republican, now seems vulnerable: Democrats are banking on big gains in the Senate in the November 4 election, where five or six Republican seats in the 100 strong-chamber are likely to change hands...."
