CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A faculty member and physician at West Virginia University Health Sciences Center is facing child sexual abuse charges in Guatemala, university officials confirmed.

Local authorities there are accusing Joshua Thomas Kotouc, 33, of sexually abusing four children - ages 10-13 - in a house where he lived in Chilajon, a section of San Gabriel Chicaj, which is a village in San Miguel, Guatemala.

Andrea Brunais, a spokeswoman for WVU Health Sciences, said Kotouc's visit to Guatemala was not connected to his work at the university.
