Life on Mars? Empty Life on Mars?

Life on Mars

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article2133475.ece

“ALIEN microbes living just below the Martian soil are responsible for a haze of methane around the Red Planet, NASA scientists believe.
The gas, belched in vast quantities in our world by cows, was detected by orbiting spacecraft and from Earth using giant telescopes. NASA scientists are today expected to confirm its presence during a briefing at their Washington HQ. And the find is seen as exciting new evidence that Martian microbes are still alive today.

Some scientists reckon methane is also produced by volcanic processes. But there are NO known active volcanoes on Mars.”

What if there is life on Mars? How would that affect biblical Christianity?

My response:

1. Maybe Mars was seeded by microbes from Earth scientific probes or landers? (Many scientists believe that life originated on Mars! Remember when they found a meteorite in Antarctica and Bill Clinton declared that the meteorite contained fossilized microbes from Mars? Scientists believed that a meteor impact on Mars ejected the meteorite life-transporter. How else could this rock have landed in Antarctica?—since there never have been meteors strike the earth or there has never been volcanic eruptions on earth that could have blasted that rock there.) Wink

2. Nothing in my theology rules out the possibility of living organisms on other planets. What a bout the discovery of other intelligent beings? Would the discovery of other intelligent life forms undermine Christianity? No. If they are intelligent beings, then we could learn a lot from them. We can learn a lot from apes, dogs and dolphins right now—right here.

3. What makes humans unique is not that we are alive; rather, it is that we have a spirit—a God consciousness. Unfortunately, that nature is fallen and in need of redemption because of sin.. But, thanks be to God that the Gospel is the answer to that need.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
