"The blame for [the national debt] lies with the Congress and the President, with Democrats and Republicans alike,
most all of whom have been unwilling to make the hard choices or to explain to the American people that
there is no such thing as a free lunch." -- Warren Rudman (1930- ) US Senator (R-NH)

That's a great quote, Zig. I think we all like getting "something for nothing," and yet, of course, it's never really "nothing." Someone is to pay for it. We might all do well with a little less "instant gratification."

The "right to a house," just like the "right not to be offended," is just like the "right to all of my hair." It's lovely in theory, but the next thing you know you are a homeless, bald, offended man!

The Republicans are far from innocent here. If all of those billions are worth it to occupy two countries (at least), I should like to know exactly how they wish us to sacrifice for the effort, as we were expected to during World War II (OK, not me, but you:)

Good Post and so true, Just as sheik said both parties bear equilly the blame for this mess. It is so sad that a majority of the public is unwilling to face this issue.

I first was made aware of that by Ross Perot in the early 90's.
