Maybe Pelosi and Hoyer are Right! Empty Maybe Pelosi and Hoyer are Right!

Post by ohio county Wed Aug 12, 2009 3:59 pm

I found this quote:

We must...drown out the opposition...

Maybe there are un-American groups out there getting involved in the healthcare debate.

I never knew I was Astroturf. Thank goodness for Paul Krugman and the SEIU otherwise I might never have known!

The Dems for years have engaged in behavior that would make Niccolo Machiavelli blush. They drone on about how dissent is patriotic, until it is people dissenting from them, at which time THAT becomes unpatriotic.

But if the American voter insists on putting such D students into office......

Well just out of curiosity I would ask conservative posters to look over the past few posts and point out any hint or inkling of an attitude of co-operation, bi-partisanship, or or willingness to work with progressives.

Admittedly I am maybe a little prejudiced, but I don't see any.

Hi Sherm,

How can we work with them when they won't even listen to us? Now we're being called "fake grassroots". I don't have any power over anything. I'm not an elected official and I don't serve on any GOP committee and I haven't been appointed to any board or commission. I'm a homeschooling homemaker with two kids in college living on a single paycheck and I'm being ignored by my Senators. Our President is making secret deals with Big Pharma and I should just keep my mouth shut?

Interesting development I heard about yesterday ……. but which probably didn’t make for reporting by any state wide media.

My buddy was telling me that when he went to the Senior Citizen Center at Gassaway yesterday at about noon to pick up a couple lunches ……. the parking lot was overflowing and there were State Police there waiting in their cars.

What he found was, the AARP was there to convince those SC’s to support Obama’s Health Care Reform Bill and he was told to sign a petition in support of it, which he told them NWIH would he do that. I guess those Seniors were pretty irate about the AARP supporting it and that’s why so many turned out …… and why the ones from AARP ask for the SP’s to be there. Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz

Well Steph I recognize your well-earned status as a grass-roots activist.

Although you are no doubt influenced by the gop's steady stream of
hooey from on high, I am convinced you have retained your status of grass roots.

As for me, I have no dog in this hunt.

I am for single payer and just get the employer out of the picture.

They should not have health care costs as part of doing business when the bulk of overseas trading partners do not.

The current proposals are just political puffery trying to throw liberals a bone.

All they do is just tinker around with the formulas how the Ins. Companies divvy up the patients' loot.

Post by Aaron Fri Aug 14, 2009 12:44 pm

Conservatives put out plenty of good ideas. Stephanie just posted 8 things that can help, I posted a plan supporting a national sales tax to pay for health care and there have been other suggestions made at town hall meetings.

And for their efforts, conservatives have been told their opposition is un-American, town hall meeting have been stuffed with union supporters of Obama's plan and organizations have been instructed on how to drown out the opposition.

Please tell me Sherman, how can conservatives cooperate when they are being personally attacked, their patriotism is called into questioned and they are denied the opportunity to participate in the conversation?

Well Aaron I was referring just to the last few posts.

I can't comment on what has happened the past two or three weeks. But like Sam says in his post the current concoction is just more pandering to the Insurance companies.

p.s. I cant help but chuckle when I read your last sentence. Shocked

I don't disagree which is why I don't believe Congress should get the government involved in the health care industry. There has to be other options.

I'm not sure which one you mean, about Conservatives being denied the opportunity to speak or drowning out the opposition.

Sherm,

I don't live in a vacuum. However, I have my own opinions. You should add me in facebook. You can find me through Ziggy or Aaron or search my email crzslady@gmail.com. I'd like you to be able to look at my wall and see some of the exchanges I've had over the past couple of days with members of the Christian right. Particularly when it comes to US intervention overseas my views are rejected by those on high spewing the hooey.

The last thing this nation needs is a single payer government controlled plan. Look at how screwed up Medicare is......overwhelmed with fraud and corruption. Make no mistake about it, the people who will be hurt most by such a scenario are the middle class because the wealthy and those in power will still be able to pay to receive for the best care from the best medical professionals at the best facilities without delay.

As a matter of fact, an talking point used by abortion proponents makes the case for me. They say if abortion is outlawed in some states or in the nation that will result in people of means traveling to obtain abortions. You or I may languish on a waiting list, or be unable to obtain state of the art care but you know the Rockefellers and the Kennedys and the Bushes won't be settling any more than they are now.

Steph, what you read is what you get, Jack don't have a PC and has never used one.

You might call the Senior Center at Gassaway and pretend to be an Obama Supporter or whatever and try to weazelword some info outta whoever answers the phone.

Jack also told me they had Obama signs pasted all around and the SP's tore them down.
