Bill would give president emergency control of Internet
by Declan McCullagh

Internet companies and civil liberties groups were alarmed this spring when a U.S. Senate bill proposed handing the White House the power to disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet.

They're not much happier about a revised version that aides to Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, have spent months drafting behind closed doors. CNET News has obtained a copy of the 55-page draft (excerpt), which still appears to permit the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency.

Well “DUH”, the Fairness Doctrine will let them pull the plug on any broadcaster that criticizes them and they will need to shut the Internet down when they get ready to mobilize Obama's Civilian National Security Force to disarm all the citizens.

You can’t control the people if they got guns and good communications among themselves.

BARACK OBAMA'S CIVILIAN ARMY

THEN-PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE BARACK OBAMA: “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.
