Big Labor Financial Reporting Short-Lived
One of the few things the Boosh administration got right was the financial reporting requirements enacted by Secretary of the Department of Labor, Elaine Chao. Financial reporting by public corporations is such that purchase orders must be amended if price quotes are off by one penny. Amid these onerous regulations for corporations, labor unions were not required to report any financial information until Secretary Chao required basic financial reporting. Following the rules changes unions were required to report sources of income, salaries of all staff members, and expenses. For the first time in history and until Obama was elected unions were forced to report basic financial information. Now, in a payback to his union meal tickets Obama has suspended financial reporting rules. Unions can now extort with impunity, spend lavishly, and not report anything. Change we can believe in!
