Republican fundraisers pander to disdain for their own party's donors- calling them "reactionary" and "ego-driven".

In the blood sport of politics, you never want the other team to see your playbook -- especially if what's in it makes your fans look bad. A Republican National Committee fundraising presentation that hit the Internet Wednesday is just such a playbook.

Seems to me the only thing Republicans did that Democrats didn't was get caught.

And I'd say the right owes President Obama and apology the day after the left apologizes to President Bush for the Mad Magazine pictures and the moron monkey boy comments.

It is one thing to demonize your political opposition. It goes with the territory of being in politics. Democrats expect it of Republicans, and Republicans expect it of Democrats.

It is something else again to effectively demonize your own financial and political supporters- directing party fundraisers to appeal to the rank and filers by catagorizing them as either poor and "reactionary", or better healed and therefore "ego driven".

People who donate money to political causes tend to be "ego-driven," but that they are held in contempt by party leaders is true enough.

Any common shlub who fancies that the leaders of the major parties really care about THEM is living in fantasyland.
