Two Quick Thoughts on Delaware
1-I'm glad O'Donnell won.
2-Even though she's toast in November.
I'd rather have a guy with a D after his name than a useless Republican making the party look like they are to blame for socialist policies.

I am all about ideological diversity within the GOP, but I am sick of a "moderate" being any Republican that consistently sides with Democrats.

I'm not ready to concede Delaware. I say- let's hold the election anyway and see if she falls short...

It ain't over 'til it's over. Let's hope--against all odds--for a Raese and O'Donnell victory.

Re: Two Quick Thoughts on Delaware
I don't think the conventional wisdom precludes either a Raese or O'Donnell victory. Fiscal restraint is an issue that resonates across a broad spectrum of the electorate. We live within our means and we expect the government to do the same. Clinton wasn't the most popular politician of his generation because he was a skirt chaser. He was smart enough to steal the thunder from Gingrich's having balanced the budget. Manchin made Raese's ads come true when he hinted that he'd vote for cap and trade. This could get interesting.

Hi OC,
I think she can win, especially this year, and I agree let's go ahead and have the election. From what little I heard on the radio this evening she seems on point.

Re: Two Quick Thoughts on Delaware
Know from whence the name "Delaware" came? And this is true of the state, the river, and the American Indian tribe (which is really a sept)...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_West,_3rd_Baron_De_La_Warr
Wikipedia is much more generous than Allan W. Eckert (That Dark and Bloody River, Bantam Books, 1995) who says that de la Warr fled the colony in disgust with no intention of ever returning. The colonists raised such a fuss over the conduct of de la Warr's man, Argall, that the Crown ordered de la Warr to return to his colony. De la Warr had the last word by dying enroute.

OC,
I see this morning that O'Donnell is down 11. Definitely not insurmountable, and quite a bit less than predicted. I still say her chances are slim, but I'd gladly vote for her if I could.

Re: Two Quick Thoughts on Delaware
I must admit, all I've seen on Christine O'Donnell is about 3 minutes of comments that I saw on MSNBC last night-I wasn't watching but flipping through the channels and stopped to watch the piece on her-so all I know about her is the comments they highlighted. We're I basing my opinion solely on that, I might hedge in my support but as I know MSNBC, I'm curious as to why a conservative should support her.
Thoughts.
Thoughts.

Sarah Palin says she is OK and that's good enough for me until I am convinced otherwise.

I am all about ideological diversity within the GOP, but I am sick of a "moderate" being any Republican that consistently sides with Democrats.
I have wondered how the GOP has shifted so far to the right in the past few decades.
I think it is because anyone that disagrees with the hardcore right, on any issue, gets put on the "republican in name only" pile.
What, should the republicans and the democrats never agree on ANYTHING? Is being a moderate some sort of sin?
I think I'm going to go to Jon Stewart's "Rally to Restore Sanity to America" on Oct. 30th. This country totally needs to take the rabid partisanship down a notch.

Those that believe the above do so only because they are listening to the wrong orifice.
They should start paying attention and make a concerted effort at trying to think for themselves so that they actually understand what the "horse's mouth" is saying ...... instead of memorizing and repeating what all the "horse's asses" are telling them.

Because anyone that disagrees with Sam is incapable of original thought, amirite?
O'Donnell is an ex-dabbler in witchcraft and a three time political looser that equates masturbation with adultery. We know this FROM HER OWN WORDS.
Apparently, she has also been living off of campaign contributions.
To point these things out is, apparently, "attacking her religion".
Castle would have had that seat, now it will go to a democrat.
Thanks, Tea Party!

Re: Two Quick Thoughts on Delaware
The partisan Democrat didn’t waste even a few seconds before they launched a tirade of personal attacks against Christine O'Donnell which had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with her abilities of being a US Senator.
They are even badmouthing her for her interest in Witchcraft as a teenager.
She should also tell them: "YUP, and I even wore Halloween costumes when in Elementary School".
But said dastardly devious attacks did cause her poll numbers to drop. And the negative sounding commentaries utter by Karl Rove and Charles Krauthammer didn’t help to instill any confidence in potential voters that she had a chance at winning the General Election.
Rove and Krauthammer were not actually badmouthing O'Donnell but were only voicing their learned opinions on the “logistical odds” of her winning the race.
Ya know, like a couple bookmakers offering “39 to 1” for a win.

a three time political looser that equates masturbation with adultery.
I can see why that would make you feel guilty and thus give you reason to hate her.

Re: Two Quick Thoughts on Delaware
If "dabbling in witchcraft" decades ago (likely the action of a typical bored white kid), fighting off lust in her heart, and believing masturbation is sinful is somehow anything other than a real Christian struggling through life's bumps, I should like to know. The reason that Dems are apopletic about Miss O'Donnell is that she obviously has a moral compass, and that is about as foreign to these people as anything possibly could be.

So do you agree that masturbation equates with adultery? Almost all of us have a moral compass. But they do not always point in the same direction.

Re: Two Quick Thoughts on Delaware
What she said whs that lust was adultery and one could not masturbate without lust. At least get it right if you’re going to disparage her. And in doing so, you might want to make sure the young lady was biblically in-correct in her comments as she was discussing a religious organization during the interview.

Re: Two Quick Thoughts on Delaware
I am not disparaging her. I am responding on point precisely to Sheik's direct quote about masturbation, and sin, and a moral compass, to wit:
I don't care that she might have dabbled in witchcraft decades ago. I would consider that an intellectual asset. But I would care if one presumes that just because one believes that masturbation is sinful for that one, that it is sinful for everyone. One-direction-fits-all moral compasses are not moral compasses at all; they are but artificial contrivances to make excuses for ones to proclaim and exercise controlling power over the conduct of others.

I don't get their newsletter, but I haven't seen any dems going into fits over this. They are thrilled that the GOP gave the nod to an unelectable person. I like the part where she just recently got her degree due to money she owed the college for better than a decade. Very fiscally responsible.
Contrary to what Sam says, Rove called her, and I quote, "nutty". Her own party is GROANING.
She is vehemently anti-Obama. I think I get that. What I don't get is what her actual political views are. To now, I haven't heard too much.
Sheik, I did like the slam about liberals (or dems - the two are not necessarily interchangeable) having no morals. They do, of course. Perhaps they are just different from yours.
Aaron asks why the dems have moved so far to the left. I don't think the shift is as extreme as what we have seen out of the GOP for the past 50 years.
I called it a while ago. The GOP is smashing on any moderate or member that shows any desire to compromise and actually get something done. All in the name of pacifying the hardcore right.
Bull Moose Party, perhaps? The new Whigs?
