After the mass shooting in Tucson of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, a federal judge, and other bystanders, President Obama gave one of those unite-the-divide speeches that give journalists leg thrills. We need to “sharpen our instincts for empathy,” he said. He lamented political finger-pointing: “It's important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds.”

The left in the United States is acting as though they are actors in a theater of absurdity. If it were not true, it would be compelling. I recall Orwell's 1984 in which the Ministry of Love was full of hate. A Hoffa who introduces the "voice of civility" in this way is dryly humorous. And yet, folks are serious about this crowd. If there can be one indictment of the public education system in the United States, it is that its products are too ridiculous to appropriately reject a venemous brood of jealous leaders employing constant double-standards and large scale bribes to public sector unions.
