Lies, Damned Lies and Government Jobs Data
“Some 80% of the reduction” in the unemployment rate from 10% hit in October 2009 to today’s 8.2% “has been from adults quitting the labor force,” says economist Peter Morici.
Morici adds the unemployment rate “rises to 14.5% if you factor back in those who’ve stopped looking for work but would re-enter if there were jobs, as well as part-time workers who would prefer full-time positions.”

True that, and the unemployment rate was 7.8% when he took office (granted it was only a month before it was over . My interest is that when the Republicans had both the Presidency and the Congress, they left total control in January of 2007 with an unemployment rate of 4.7%. The people wanted change, and they got it! Obama managed to single handedly prove that obscene government spending (about 2600 dollars for every man, woman, and child in the United States) doesn't do the trick, although it does help the Chinese gain a greater interest in the US economy.
Romney can go so many directions with the economy in his campaign, I just hope he can figure out the right ones.

The numbers have been quietly revised upward for 39 months now after the DOL releases them. We can rest assured that the real rate is higher than 8.1%.

I've also noticed that all adjustments seem to go upward, and don't get the press.
Have you read anything about income stratification getting worse under Obama? It seems to me that any real job creation (as opposed to part-time, temporary or "green jobs" that end up temporary) is lacking

What I find so sobering from Jimmy's link:
"2. If you take into account the aging of the Baby Boomers, the participation rate should be trending lower. Indeed, it has been doing just that since 2000. Before the Great Recession, the Congressional Budget Office predicted what the partipation rate would be in 2012, assuming such demographic changes. Using that number, the real unemployment rate would be 10.7%."--American Enterprise Institute
The Dems are masters at finding excuses rather than creating jobs or encouraging the economy. You'd never go to a dentist who could only tell you how bad your teeth were, or perhaps blame it on a previous dentist. Presidents and members of Congress are no different.
