New World financial Order?......

Well they say necessity is the mother of invention.
But who would have thought, even a few short months ago, that The Bush Administration would play a leading role in solving serious international financial problems like we are currently facing?
Perhaps they thought they had no choice, what with the world economy spinning quickly out of control.
Or perhaps someone behind the scenes in the Administration finally persuaded them of the advantages of international cooperation.
But cooler heads have definitely prevailed so far.
And President Bush has slapped down the rightwing extremists in his own party, some of whom
would not only refuse to cooperate in these international efforts, but would even have us actually pull out of the U.N. altogethor.
And take the Pauline path toward isolationism and a "fortress America" mentality.
Perhaps they will follow the suggestions promoted elsewhere by Aaron and others and build around a Bretton Woods type agreement.
Maybe even come away with agreements that would augment the International Monetary Fund and International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, i.e. World Bank.
I do not pretend to know all the international economic parameters involved like some profess to know.
But my strong instinct is that teamwork and international cooperation are the way to go.

Afterall we are all in this togethor so hopefully the extremists will manage to stifle themselves and quit rocking the boat before we all get tossed into the drink.
If not, hopefully President Bush will continue to isolate them and render them irrelevant.
Just my opinion.

I wouldn't give the U.N. another nickel and would give them thirty days to get out of New York. Your scenario above is pure Pollyanna, I hate to say.

Despite preferring him as a candidate, Canada protects its flanks:

OC,
You do see why I keep asking what he's got in that "peace pipe" of his, don't you?

Re: New World financial Order?.....
Absolutely. I accused him of being schizophrenic. He's trying to make peace while at the same time itching to get into a political argument where he can use the playground singsong: "neeyah neeyah neey neeyah neeyah - You lost the 'lection!"
