High Maintenance Candidate...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/22/palin-clothes-spending-ha_n_136740.html
Shades of Imelda Marcos?
The RNC has shelled out over $150 grand for Palin's clothes and make-up?
And McCain says they are going to give them to charity after the election?
That should start tongues wagging when someone gets a pic of a homeless hooker sporting Palin's recycled $2000 hi-heels.
"Republicans, RNC donors and at least one RNC staff member have e-mailed me tonight to share their utter (and not-for-attribution) disgust at the expenditures. ... The heat for this story will come from Republicans who cannot understand how their party would do something this stupid ... particularly (and, it must be said, viewed retroactively) during the collapse of the financial system and the probable beginning of a recession."

Did Edwards donate the haircut when he was done with it?
That sound you just heard was the point whooshing straight over your head.
I'm not justifying the media's focus on either of those things, just pointing them out.

Well again (as usual) it would appear you lads and lassies spout off without even reading the original post.
i.e.
So your spiteful rejoinders are not apropos in this instance.
Inasmuch as those who are taking umbrage are those who have skin in the game and have contributed to the RNC.

Re: High Maintenance Candidate...
If any of you think for a second that Barrack Obama, Joe Biden and John McCain aren't wearing five figure donated suits and doing the EXACT same thing, I've got some ocean front property just outside of Topeka that I'd like you to take a look at.
This happens all the time and the simple fact is, the only reason this is being reported in this manner is because it's Sarah Palin and liberals and the media will slam her every chance they get.
I think the issue some Republicans have from the story is "why give them the ammo" mentality.

Perhaps that is what you had intended to do, but read carefully what you posted:
Not that I care, but do you remember many on the right making a fuss about John Edwards' $400 haircut...
It seemed to me you were trying to portray conservatives as hypocritical. Meanwhile the forum's chief socialist cheerleader is saying it is Republicans who are upset over this spending. I'm not buying that either.
Sarah Palin is running for the Vice Presidency of the USA. Being a woman, it is going to cost a little more to have her dressed, pressed, and gussied up for the masses than her Democratic rival. To begin with, she has hair.
I don't think that is all that huge of a sum to spend. She isn't Hillary Clinton. A dozen pantsuits in a variety of colors just won't cut it. They can't be hauling her into JC Penney for fashions by Alfred Dunner and shoes by Arizona. It just won't fly.
Now, I realize that many of the lofty lib set who believe in redistribution of wealth are utterly unaware of the numerous charitable organizations that exist in this country providing aid and assistance to a wide variety of people because you think charity begins with the government taxing the fruit of our labor and ends with handing it over (after all the expenses involved of course) to the po' folks....
However, there are so many organizations that provide clothing for displaced homemakers, folks transitioning from welfare to work, and others entering the job market. I'm sure Palin's campaign wardrobe will be put to good use by ladies who aren't street walkers.

150 K? You don't think that alot so spend on clothing and makeovers? I'm glad I'm not your husband. You are too rich for my blood.
Yes, I do think the conservatives are being hypocritical.
To me, both of them are a non-issue, or would be, if some of MY money wasn't paying for it in the form of public campaign funding.
Regardless, anyone that was going after Edwards (Keli, I'm looking at you) for a $400 haircut had better not be silent on the GOP buying Palin a $2,000 pair of shoes to go stumping in.

Re: High Maintenance Candidate...
Terry,
The Loyd has nothing to fear....his wife isn't on television every night and meeting heads of state. The last pair of shoes I purchased for myself was a pair of Reeboks (do sneakers count?) I paid $35 for because they were the only pair of womens shoes in all of the Town Center Mall I could find that weren't manufactured in China. I'm not kidding.

I know. Just joking...
Hockey moms don't generally wear Prada. This really isn't helping her "family values" image.
Look. I had no problem with people picking on Edwards. I just would like for people to take an honest look at the big picture.
This country is too partisan. It will destroy us.

Re: High Maintenance Candidate...
Sarah Palin was a hockey mom. It's the truth and her heart and her soul is probably still there at the ice rink, but she's now on the campaign trail seeking the Vice Presidency. She can't hit the campaign trail in plaid flannel and duck boots.
The whole partisan thing really bothers me. I get called partisan all the time but how partisan can I be. Not only won't I donate money to or campaign for the Republican nominee for President, I actively encourage others to vote against him. I'm voting for Chuck Baldwin.
I'm not voting for the GOP nominee for the US Senate in WV, I'm writing in Bartlett, the CP's official write-in candidate. I have a couple of races I'm simply not voting in because I can't support any candidate.
I do think it's the partisanship of the liberals that will win Obama the election. While it is true there are many in the GOP who will sell their souls to the devil to elect a Republican, that isn't true of all of us. I know many life-long Republicans who will not vote for John McCain. Every single Democrat I know plans on voting for Obama, even though the primary was bitterly contested and many of them previously stated they didn't think he was fit for the job. In a pinch any socialist will do.
Sherm is the poster child for what I am speaking of. Look at all the negative things he had to say about Obama during the primary. Look at how he's softened his stance since Hillary accepted her fate.
My FIL is another example. For crying out loud, Terry, I'm too ashamed to tell you what he said to me about what he really thinks about Obama but how he's going to vote for him anyway to avoid another "Gad damned Republican". The only man on the planet I think he hates more than Obama is GWB and yet he's going to vote for him because he isn't a Republican.
It's pathetic.
Want to hear something else pathetic?
Geeezus this really pisses me off. It's a little off topic but you're going to get it here anyway. Kate is taking Civics this year. Her Civics teacher has instructed her class they must choose a Presidential candidate to back and debate today. Great, yes? Except the moron has demanded the students choose Obama or McCain. This is what he's teaching high school seniors. I want his certificate to teach suspended until he takes a class in Civics himself.

What? They believed in dividing the country and turning citizens against one another? That parties were a bad thing? What, Aaron, is your take on it? I have read my Jefferson, Adams, Paine and Madison. I know my take on it.
