New blood in U.S. Senate?
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20081206/D94T7BC80.html
Well speculation is growing that Caroline Kennedy will be the next U.S. Senator from NY.
I just wonder if Chelsea Clinton would move to WV could she be the next Senator from here?
I think she would be a good choice.
If Charlotte Pritt does not run.

Well, my speculation is growing that Bill Clinton will be the next U.S. Senator from NY.
I just wonder if Monica Lewinsky would move to WV could she be the next Senator from here?
I think she would be a good choice.
If Paula Jones does not run.

Re: New blood in U.S. Senate?
It's bad enough that Byrd who did not live in West Virginia for over fifty years kept getting elected. Now you want us to elect some little girl who never set foot in West Virginia? I guess as long as she's a progressive, eh? I thought you didn't like the Clintons...

Re: New blood in U.S. Senate?
How many decades has it been since there wasn't a Kennedy in the US Senate? I think it will go to Sweet Caroline.........if she wants it.

Yes...that's not exactly true; however, she once vacationed here two weeks with her parents at the All Good Festival in Preston County.

"I thought you didn't like the Clintons..."
I dont think I said I did not "like" the Clintons.
I did say Bill's politics was a little too republican for my taste.
But Chelsea is a new generation and in general younger people are more idealistic.
Besides, I was just putting her name out to see what others might think.
"I just wonder if Chelsea Clinton would move to WV could she be the next Senator from here?"
It was just something to consider.
I dont even know if she would be interested anyway.
And besides, Charlotte might run.
In that case I hope Chelsea comes to help her campaign.
Caroline too.
I just hope we dont get saddled with some stripey pants DINO.
I think we are going to have to keep continuous pressure on Obama so we need a vigorous progressive candidate.

I'm sure Byrd will press with all his vigor. I think his stripey pants suit is at the cleaners.

Re: New blood in U.S. Senate?
Do you think Jay Wolfe could beat her Stephanie?
I bet even you would not vote for him.
That was your last GOP senate candidate.
And you guys whine because no republicans get elected?

Well OC I was looking ahead to that inevitable time when Sen. Byrd is no longer able to serve.
Afterall, he is past 90 now, and no longer a spring chicken.

Yes, I think Jay Wolfe could beat her.
No, I did not vote for him. However, the only reason why I failed to vote for him was because he has been brainwashed by whatever Christian demagogue he listens to that God requires the USA to fund, arm, and protect the Zionists. There have been indications this may be changing.
In any event, I think there are Republicans who would be better candidates than Jay Wolfe and it is my hope that one of them may run.
Now as to what Republican may run and would certainly trounce Ms. Pritt, the first that comes to mind is Shelley Capito.

With all due respect, at what point do you presume he will no longer be able to serve? They can wheel him wherever he needs to be. He isn't much more useful a servant than Jeremy Bentham right now.

Re: New blood in U.S. Senate?
Oh, geez........
Do you know what came to mind? Weekend at Bernie's! Good grief, is that what these folks really want for Senator Byrd? Has he so little of his faculties left that he can't see what he's become?
I think it's very sad.

Getting old is often sad, Stephanie. My father just withered away with Alzheimers and renal failure, and passed on at age 87 in 1996. But he could not see what he had become- and for which I am greatful.

Ziggy,
Getting old sucks. I'm so sorry to hear what your father and your family had to endure. I know it must have been very painful for you all.
However, you can take some small comfort in the fact that your father had a family how looked out for him and cared about his dignity. I have no doubt you made sure of it.
Who does Senator Byrd have looking out for him? He's become the host and those who are supposed to be most loyal to him parasites. Those just outside the immediate circle are like vultures, just waiting to pick his bones dry. Makes me sick, really.

Byrd's got a few more years.
