It takes a lot of believing .... with a straight face.
(author unknown)All of this from someone who probably believes that a snake talked, man is born in 'sin', yet they won't say what that original sin actually was, a man was able to live in the belly of an acid filled stomach of a whale, a very gifted 'speaker' was able to come back to life, yet no one has seen him since! Oh, and let's not forget my favorite, God loves everyone, yet sends plague after plague to kill those he supposedly loves!!! And then tells you to smite the unbelievers.
All of this from the most popular work of fiction ever written. You know the one, where a bunch of men got together, led by Constatine, and compiled the 'old testament' out of stories that 'they' only approved of. And then, since that wasn't good enough, the 'new testament' was written to explain away the absurd claims from the first book.
All this surely helped to control the masses at the same time, didn't it? Talk about not having any proof...Oh, that's right, faith explains it all. Sorry, I'll stick to science rather than unproven fairytales.

All of this from someone who probably believes that matter has always existed, that all matter was once compressed by gravity smaller than a period on this post, that some unknown force interrupted the gravity and caused a BIG BANG from which all life eventually evolved--essentially believing that a bomb went off in a junkyard and that all the pieces of junk assembled into a fully fueled A380 ready for takeoff with the junkyard dog evolved into Pilot "Sully" Sullenberger. Sociologists among them identify natural religion as containing three common truths: Everywhere among all people there is a belief in a god--or gods, (2) there is a word for sin in every language and (3) there is life after death with a punishment side and paradise aspect. They condemn a god they imagine hates; yet, they themselves have hatred and contempt for knuckle-dragging believers in religion! Go figure!

You know the one, where a bunch of men got together, led by Darwin, and compiled the 'The Origin of Species' out of stories that 'they' only approved of.' And then, since that wasn't good enough, "Punctuated Equilibrium" was written to explain away the absurd claims from the first book.

Maybe they devolved back into primordial soup.

Re: It takes a lot of believing .... with a straight face.
TH, there does seem to be a couple posters on this Forum that appear to be devolving back into the primordial soup from which they originated.
TH, evolution of all life forms is based on/in the Natural Law of Covalent bonds, to wit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covalent_bond
TH, whether you are interested or not, let me explain to you the “magic” of covalent bonding as it pertains to your ability to breathe oxygen into your lungs and your blood’s ability to transport it to all the cells in your body that requires its use.
TH, you blood contains hemoglobin, which is the iron-containing oxygen-transport metalloprotein in the red blood cells of all vertebrates. TH, that is why it is imperative that you have sufficient iron in your diet, because without it, you would die as a result of asphyxiation. To wit:
TH, the oxygen (O2) you breathe into your lungs passes through the cell walls of the pulmonary capillaries and binds with the iron (Fe) ion in the hemoglobin which is then called oxyhemoglobin (oxygenated hemoglobin). To wit:
TH, once the oxygen (O2) is released to a cell the hemoglobin will then bind with the carbon dioxide (CO2) that is the waste product of cell metabolism and the blood will transport it back to the lungs where it will be exhaled.
And TH, the reason that breathing very much carbon monoxide (CO) will kill you is that you will die from asphyxiation, to wit:
TH, your hemoglobin grabs the CO first, creating carbon monoxyhemoglobin, …… and won’t let go of it. There is no mechanism at the cellular level to cause said release …. like there is for O2. Little whiffs of CO will give you headaches, etc., …. lots of whiffs will kill you.
Thus TH, it makes no difference if one is talking respiration, digestion, locomotion, reproduction ….. or the baking of a cake, ….. the root cause is a chemical reaction between atoms and molecules that is determined by their specific properties and the Natural Law of Covalent bonds.
cheers

Hemoglobin is a protein that is carried by red cells. It picks up oxygen in the lungs and delivers it to the peripheral tissues to maintain the viability of cells. Hemoglobin is made from two similar proteins that "stick together" (covalent bonds). Both proteins must be present for the hemoglobin to pick up and release oxygen normally. One of the component proteins is called alpha, the other is beta. Before birth, the beta protein is not expressed. A hemoglobin protein found only during fetal development, called gamma, substitutes up until birth.

TH, the oxygen (O2) you breathe into your lungs passes through the cell walls of the pulmonary capillaries and binds with the iron (Fe) ion in the hemoglobin which is then called oxyhemoglobin (oxygenated hemoglobin). To wit:
Oxyhemoglobin is formed during respiration when oxygen binds to the heme component (an iron, Fe ion) of the protein hemoglobin in red blood cells. This process occurs in the pulmonary capillaries adjacent to the alveoli of the lungs. The oxygen then travels through the blood stream to be dropped off at cells where it is utilized in aerobic glycolysis and in the production of ATP by the process of oxidative phosphorylation.

And TH, the reason that breathing very much carbon monoxide (CO) will kill you is that you will die from asphyxiation, to wit:
Hemoglobin binding affinity for carbon monoxide (CO) is 200 times greater than its affinity for oxygen (O2), meaning that small amounts of CO dramatically reduce hemoglobin's ability to transport oxygen.
