He learned from one of the best - Bush was king of deficit spending.

Bush screwed up by not funding the Iraq war and as a result, he not only incurred debt for that, he had to trade liberal entitlement spending for support for his war spending.

In other words, he acted like a democrat to get money for Iraq and Afghanistan.

But if you look at the little chart Keli posted, you can see that the deficit was decreasing until 2007/2008. Over the last year, Bush signed the democratic stimulus rebate, FM/FM and Tarp.
