Re: What, .....
Actually the majority of the money won't be spent in 2009 or 2010. There's still plenty of time for all to realize just has damaging this pork laden democrat monstrosity is and revoke much of it.
As such, there is still plenty of reason to show fiscal restraint and there's really no reason to "spend it since the bill passed."

GEEEZE, I still have a large pill bottle half full of hydrocodone, probably 60 pills, that the Doctor cautioned me to "take as needed ..... but not to excess".
You would probably LOOOOOOVVVVVVVEEEE to get your hands on those little "suckers", ........ wouldn't you TRC?
Nope. I don't like pharmaceuticals. That was a nice personal attack, though.
Your tears of hate and frustration - they nourish me.

There is no GOP pork in it? That would be surprising.

Re: What, .....
Who said there was no GOP pork? Certainly not me. I’m sure there is some in there but I would be surprised if it was anything more then a small percentage compared to the democratic pork as it was democrats who wrote the bill and who are responsible for the spending. That is why I labeled it a democratic monstrosity.

Re: What, .....
I don't think anyone knows just how far the pork in this bill goes except for the few who wrote it.
Those were democrats so if they put GOP pork in it to rival the democratic pork, I would be suprised.
Logically speaking, it's not likely either Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid would do that, don't you agree!!!

I hold neither party blameless.

Now that it has passed, I don't want it to fail.
Before it passed, where did you see me support it or speak favorably for it?
The only point I wanted to make is that people bearding the bill for its pork couldn't actually name any. Hannity was the prime example of that.
You will see what you want, I guess.

Re: What, .....
You misunderstood. I'm not saying you supported the stimulus before it passed.
The impression I get is that from you post, the view I get is that you blame the GOP for a most of the problems in this country.

That is because my touchstone is civil liberties.
Economic policies are not my forte. I don't think that the dems. or the repubs. are all that much different. The GOP wants to give your money to big business and the dems want to sell bread and circuses.
I dislike both parties, in that respect.
Trade issues? Dems gotta eat some of the huge pie of crap that that situation has become. NAFTA, and all that, but the GOP isn't blameless. They could have helped to stem the tide of outsourcing that is crippling us but their took their money from lobbyists, also.
I blame both parties there, also.
Do I loathe the dems for supporting the Patriot Act and the Iraq fiasco? You bet. They let themselves be led by a ring in the nose because they didn't want to see weak on terrorism or lacking patriotism.
Is either party superior in that respect? Not noticeably.
Who is trying to choke gay marriage? Who is trying to get religious viewpoints taught in school (creationism)? Who has pushed for warrant less wiretaps and no-knock searches. Who are the big players in drug prohibition?
Yes, the dems have their social conservatives, also, but by and in large, it is the GOP that is unsupportive of civil liberties.
I'm an independent, BTW, that prefers to vote for viable GOP and libertarian candidates, particularly on a local level. Dan Foster always gets my vote.
Also, most people on this board are mid to right wing and favor the GOP's policies. If I play Devils Advocate, I will, 9 times out of 10, be taking a GOP-contrary stance.
Is the GOP to blame for all of the troubles in this country? No. I just hate the way they have whored themselves to the christian coalition.

I think you'll find a great deal of support for all of those issues in the democratic party as well which is why there will be no resolution for the gay marriage issues.
As for the patriot act, warrant less wiretaps and no-knock searches, not only did democrats support those issues, they did so again in 2005.
So why it is that Republicans can block legislation from the minority but democrats couldn't on either of those issues?
I agree both parties are to blame which is why I am also an independent. When it comes to economics issues, I to side with conservatives, probably more so then you because I believe they are right in their thoughts AND those thoughts fall inline with our founding fathers and the constitution.
On the other hand, Democrats (and those who act like them) are way out there, going completely against the very foundation of the constitution. So even though I agree with the left on most social issues, I cannot support them as I am guided by economical issues.
