I suppose there is a substantial difference. Of course, that all depends upon what your definition of the word "is" is.

Depending on the context in which it is used, the word "is", like many words, can have more than one meaning.

Well here, Stephanie. You might want to see what you can do with this one:

I’ve abandoned free market principles to save the free market system.

That's pathetic. What would you have me "do" with it? I'm certainly not about to try to defend it.

You so enjoy endless mocking of Democratic politicians' linguistic gaffes that I thought you might find some pleasure in similar mockings of at least one Republican.

You think Algore's claim that he "created" the internet was just a "linguistic misstep"? How do you explain all the other crap he's been spewing for the past two decades?

Would you like some more examples?

Bill Clinton just flat out lied repeatedly. I don't know why you choose to make excuses for him. I don't know why anyone would make excuses for either one of them.

I agree that, linguistically, they have both fallen all over their words sometimes.

But Gore did not say that he invented the internet. You would have more credibility- and Gore would have less- if you just used what he actually says to make him look goofy instead of parroting the "flat out lies" of others.

I like you. And that is why I just hate to see you fall into such juvenile antics. Why parrot such mendacities as "Gore invented (or created) the internet" when the truth would serve you better anyway?

OK, Ziggy. I give.

Algore never lies, exaggerates, or reinvents history for his own purposes. He isn't a fossil fuel guzzling hypocrite. He didn't make a small fortune off the tobacco industry before, during, and after his sister's torturous death from cancer, nor did he use that episode for his own political gain in front of millions of Americans.

He's a stand-up guy. We're all in his debt to Mr. Gore for all his many accomplishments in the fields of science, technology, and health care. He's a class act and a great humanitarian. I apologize and promise I won't do it again.
