I stumbled upon this stimulus project in Burnsville. So far nobody has voted in favor of this project or against it. Is this at Burnsville Lake do you suppose?

Yes, that would be at Burnsville Lake.

I'm not sure why they would be listed separately though. To count them as "Stimulus Jobs created" I suppose, even though they have existed for 20+ years.

Grounds Maintenance services includes lawn mowing, toilet and recreation areas cleaning and attendants at the entrance(s) to the Camping Area(s).

Those jobs at both Burnsville and Sutton (and I assume all other Corps property) have always been via "contract bids" let by the Corps Huntington District office.

Anyone can bid on said contract when it comes up for renewal if they can meet the requirements ........ but one can not bid on an individual job. The winning contractor hires whoever he/she chooses but he/she must pay wages specified by the Corps.

Which is damn good, like now days its $15 to $20 /hour for mowing grass, etc. Thus the reason for the "Contract: $50,170". Enough for the Contractor and wages for 1 employee for the Summer. And if the Contractor gets both Burnsville and Sutton, he/she and their employees make out pretty good.

A good friend of mine held that contract for a couple years back in the late 80's but the Corps didn't pay that much then.

Ohio, talked to a friend yesterday, those are new "part-time" Stimulus jobs, not full-time permanent ones.

He said Burnsville Lake received something like $1.6 million and Sutton Lake got $1.3 million to upgrade/build new thingys in/around the Camping areas.

Until this country produces some product that people all around the world want to buy, stimulus jobs are a joke. A stimulus job and $4.57 will buy you a cup of Starbucks.
