Christ is still mocked!

To the Editor:

Well, it is that time of the year for newspapers, cable shows, other TV programs and heretical religious groups to investigate and denigrate the claims of the Christian faith concerning Christ. Topics include: Did they crucify the wrong man? Did Jesus only swoon--and then recover and escape from the tomb? Did deceived grave robbers bribe soldiers for the body of the "king of the Jews" only to leave his broken, bloody corpse to the vultures?

Why are there never programs like: Buddha: Man, Mystic or Misanthrope? Confused Confucius. The Koran: God's Word or Man's Word? Hinduism--Sacred Bull? Atheism is Illogical! (Atheism positively affirms that there is no God. But can the atheist be certain of this claim? You see, to know that a transcendent God does not exist would require a perfect knowledge of all things--i.e. omniscience--thus making the atheist claim to be god.)

Acts 17:32 "And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter." If the claims concerning Christ's death, burial and resurrection are false, I have lost nothing. However, if they are true and you reject those claims, then you have lost everything.

I Corinthians 15:1-4 "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures."

Don't mock Christ! The question today is, "What will you do with Christ?" Someday, the question will be, "What will Christ do with you?"

So then would it not require the same kind of "perfect knowledge" to be certain that the Abominable Snowman or Bigfoot or the Braxton County Monster does not exist?

One has more basis for faith in God than for faith in the Braxton County Monster; having said that, certainty is hard to come by. If you infer the BCM's existence from nature or morality than have at it.

I would much rather face the BCM as an enemy than God.

Precisely- whether in belief, or disbelief.

The difference being that so many aren't so hell bent on assailing with everything they have those who believe in the Braxton County Monster, Big Foot or the Abominable Snowman.

On the other hand, Aaron, those who believe in the Braxton County Monster, Big Foot or the Abominable Snowman are not hell bent on giving official sanctions to said critters via the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, or by demanding prayers to said critters in the public schools.

And believers in the Braxton County Monster, Big Foot or the Abominable Snowman do not enjoy tax-exempt status for institutions purporting to promote obedience and reverence to said critters.

Nor do those who believe in the Braxton County Monster, Big Foot or the Abominable Snowman inspire TV evangelists to elicit zillion$ of dollars from the citizenry by putting guilt trips on those citizens for alledged sins committed against the Braxton County Monster, Big Foot or the Abominable Snowman.
