WEST Virginians on Nov. 2 will do something they have not done in 26 years - elect a new senator. Since 1958, voters in this state have elected only three men to the U.S. Senate.
What an embarrassment.
No other state has shown such complacency, and such electoral sloth may help explain the lack of new industry or new blood in the state.
Other mountain states are more discerning. In that time, Kentucky has had seven senators, North Carolina 12 and Tennessee 13.
Those are the states West Virginians go to look for work.
How bad is it? In those 52 years, we have had five popes. Catholics change popes more often than West Virginians change senators, and Catholics get only one pope at a time, while West Virginians get two senators.

No, Sam it is far more than an embarrassment. Look at the cabilber of individuals elected. Jenning Randolph I know little about, but Byrd and rockefeller are both an embarrassment to the state and to humanity. Rockefeller voted for a war then did all in his power to undermine the military. He has voted in favor of some of the most unconstitutional legislation ever written. The sad part is the union mentality keeps putting this knucklehead back in office, when he should be tried for treason. Damn any man that would sacrifice the military solely for political favor.
Then we have Byrd. He proclaimed himswelf the conscience of the senate. If that was the case all the corruption is explained. He was suppose to a constitutional scholar, yet he support legislation foreign to the US Constitution. Yet, the good idiots of West Virginia kept putting him in office time and again.
I have no sympathy for the people of West Virginia. They got exactly what they wanted, a sugar daddy to funnel taxbucks into the state. I guess when one is so endowed witht he entitlement mentality that is all one can expect.
