Here's what I don't like (great satire, btw Keli),

I've never liked him. I've always had a low opinion of him, and yet the media keeps telling us that "no one saw this coming."

I have never seen in him anything that would indicate him being above this sort of thing. Just because someone prosecutes crime does not itself make them any better of an individual, just a better accuser of others. I'm not saying that I do not value prosecution, just that the idea that prosecuters are better than others strikes me as ridiculous, particularly in post-Nifong America.

His party affiliation was not mentioned one time on the evening news.

I wonder if that would have been the case were he a Republican.

Republican New York Governor....would have been the lead on every news cast save Fox. FACT.

OK what really got me was the wife. Why is it when a political figure screws around on his wife, he always posts the long suffering wife by his side for his news conference? Spitzer hauled her out, but didn't look at her, didn't mention her, nada.

Rent a pro buy a disease. OMG if that were my husband I'd have smacked him upside the head and told him he was on his own.

As far as philandering goes, I have to say I respect Clinton's more. Real men don't have to pay for it!

Good call. I didn't see the press conference (my television does not get any stations) but I heard on the radio that she was "stoic." She needs to hold her own press conference stating, as you did, that she does not want to put her own physical or emotional health into any more danger and is therefore leaving the person who violated her trust and so endangered her.

I agree with Aaron that if Spitzer were a Republican that the party would receive greater mention, but the story is still new. Do we have a similar Republican example that we could study the media's actions toward it?

Hey Mike, maybe she is too fond of that NYC apartment ...... that is in the building her father-in-law owns.

I think it would be silly for her to jeapordize her "rent controlled" living arrangement.

Of the 13 listed, 7 were listed as Republicans, 3 or 4 as dems and the rest (all dems I believe) had no party affiliation even though it was "political" sex scandals.

As for the wife, she had to stand by his side. If not, how would she get her book deal and Oprah appearance? No body cares about a woman who acts logical.

On the other hand, when men "pay for it" neither party has the lingering problems associated with "gettin' it free". No "will you still love / respect me in the morning". No "will we eventually get married". No committment beyond providing a service and paying the requisite fee.

It's sort of like the difference between borrowing a friends car, or renting one from Avis. If you borrow it, you're indebted forever. But once you pay Avis, your conscience is clear.
