Oh Stephanie, what about Ron Paul and Earmarks?
Ron Paul has submitted $358,303,155 in earmorks for his home district, the 14th in Texas. I use to respect the man, but after I got to looking into this I lost my respect for him. I hate people that preach the "do as I say, not as I do" mentality.

It's ok Cato. Representative Paul didn't vote for the spending bill so he actually voted against the earmarks before he voted for them.

You're going to have to show me where he has done something he advocates against before I get excited, Cato.

Of course you do understand that one political move is to vote against a bill a politicans knows will pass. That way they get to have the best of both worlds. In Ron Paul's case he sponsered the earmarks and then voted against the bill. He gets his vote buying earmarks for his district and he can say he voted against the spending bill. He acting more like a con artist than a person of principle.

He opposes the spending but knew it would pass. Doesn't he have a responsibility to his constituents to see to it that their losses are offset? This is the only avenue available for him to do that. I don't see it as a con at all. He's very upfront about it, Cato.

$373 million this year, over $400 million last. If he keeps this up, he'll be in Ted Stevens/Bob Byrd territory.

I see it as being a complete hypocrite. It is a kind of "do as say, not as I do" mentality. He preaches Constitutionality and then does exactly what he is condemning others for. He's no different from any other politician.
As far as bringing home the bacon, that isn't a part of his job responsibility. He swore an oath to defend and protect the US Constitution. He is there to defend and propect our liberty, not help spend us into the poorhouse. That is his responsibility as it is for all of congress and the president. Obviously, that oath means little to him, or the rest of the bastards in congress.
