Who causes education problems?
American adults blame parents for education problems
SEATTLE -- Blaming teachers for low test scores, poor graduation rates and the other ills of American schools has been popular lately, but a new survey wags a finger closer to home.
Read whos blaming who ..... here: http://www.wvgazette.com/News/201012110637
Strange world we live in.
After spending tens of $1000s per student to educate them, with damn near every School System, every school and most every Teacher teaching them something a wee different,
when they get out of School, everyone with an agenda ....... tries their damnest to "dumb them down" by teaching them lies, untruths, etc., etc., etc., ....... in order to make them believe what they themselves want them to believe.
If students get a "half assed" education in Economics, Banking, Business Management or the Sciences ....... then the agenda driven public, the News Media, the Politicians, Ministers, Preachers, fanatics, liberals, socialists, etc. ....... begin levying a barrage of piffle, tripe, untruths, rumors, non-facts, garbage and imaginary crap in order to ....... re-program their Education.
And this reprogramming began at a slow pace in the late 70's and early 80's but is now being conducted at "warp speed", ..... driven primarily by the Educators, politicians, liberals, socialists and environmentalists, ...... most every one of them being "a product" of said ........ post 70's and early 80's nurturing.
And the direction this nation is travelling ........ can not be reversed ......... until the train we are riding on crashes and burns.
So, have a good trip and be riding on your shoulders.

Re: Who causes education problems?
Who causes education problems? Parents, teachers, students, politicans, judges, Preachers, and the list goes on and on. The American public education system has become babysitter for a majority of parents, a social affair for students, a money bucket for teachers and their unions, a place to build an empire for many administrators, and an indoctination center for every agenda that comes down the pike.
Public education simply doesn't work anymore. Afterall, there is no competition to force it to improve. If you want to improve education, it will only happen when public education has to compete with private education for money. Of course, the teachers unions and thier politicians aren't going to ever allow that. That along with the mordern parent who doesn't give a damn about their kid pretty will ensures the status quo.

You got er "right on" far as I'm thinking, Willy.
No one is really in charge of driving that train, are there.
It's just going helter-skelter in all directions, ......... but all down grade ...... and there is a big ole sharp curve somewhere just ahead that everyone is oblivious to the dangers it poses.
But you can bet your booties that when they try crawling out of that wreck that is sure to happen they will be blaming everyone but themselves for causing it.
It will be another prime example of: "Too late we get smart".
, sure will.

Re: Who causes education problems?
An overwhelming majority of Americans are frustrated that it's too difficult to get rid of bad teachers, while most also believe that teachers aren't paid enough, a new poll shows.
The Associated Press-Stanford University poll found that 78 percent think it should be easier for school administrators to fire poorly performing teachers. Yet overall, the public wants to reward teachers — 57 percent say they are paid too little, with just 7 percent believing they are overpaid and most of the rest saying they're paid about right.

I'm different when it comes to pay. Even though I have a child and wife, both of whom have walked away from public education, the pay issue is one that falls squarely between the teacher and administration. Nobody is forced to teach. It is a vocation that is chosen and entered into as agreement between the teacher and administration. If said teacher is dissatisfied with the pay nothing is preventing them from finding employment elsewhere.
Is it hard to get rid of under preforming teachers? Knowing what I know today, I think the real question to be asked is whether or not the adminsitration is willing to take the responsibility to ensuring educators are actually doing their job. I have come to believe that most administrators come from the ranks of subpar educators and are thus afraid or at least unwilling to hold teachers to any real standard of excellence. Point is, if you want to get rid of someone you can. It may take some work and documentation, but it can be done, union or not, legislature or not, and tenure or not. The key is an administrator doing the job they are paid quite handsomely for, the problem is most don't want to do their job.

Re: Who causes education problems?
Here's a little something to ponder Sam. This morning it was 18 degrees where I live and the wind was blowing. School was canceled because of the cold. I can remember attending school when it was subzero. I lived in town and walked about 3/4 of mile to school and back home again. Can you explain to me the reasoning for school to have been canceled because it was cold outside. I thought the world was going to end and life explode outward at the speed of light if we didn't get 180 days of instruction.

Yes Willy, I can, .......... because too many Teachers will call in requesting a Substitute ........... and there is not enough Substitutes to be calling in to babysit their classes.
