Re: Strange Times
I don't speak for GWB either. You'll have to ask him.
I speak for Aaron and Aaron believes that America was much better off on September 12, 2001 with GWB as President then we would have been with Al Gore as President.

And Aaron also said, "In fact, one of the things I like best about OUR President is that he doesn't try to be anything he's not."
I don't blame him for abandonong that real quick like, though- for obvious reasons.

I'm not abandoning anything. I stated MY opinion, that's all. I have no insight into the psychy or inner thinking of GWB thus I won't even try to address one comment that he's made. Only a fool would do that. I think for myself (unlike others here) and I'm certainly no fool.
Nice try though.

Re: Strange Times
Well I doubt he did anything to raise the IQ level or Academic reputation at either institution.
The biggest consideration for admission at either one is a person's pedigree.
Not his potential or his past performance.
Both need to expand their gene pool if they want to be representative of the best and brightest we have to offer academically.

Re: Strange Times
Sherm,
Why must either institution be representative, and what exactly do you mean by that term?
I would really like to see ideological diversity at the nation's colleges alongside other diversity, but I'll keep on waiting for Godot.

Re: Strange Times
Whatever would make you think they care about being representative? Because they keep crying "Diversity"? That's to assuage their own guilt. They just want to keep pushing out investment bankers and GS-17s for the Foreign Service.

So Sam, do you think that God really did want Bush to be president? Or was that just a pitch to the "If God wants it, then it must be right" lemmings?

Sorry Mike, I have tried to clarify better what I meant to say.
I had to leave and take care of a "Honey do" chore and cut my post short ok.
(I'm sure you understand the order of priority regarding "Honey do's.")
If not you will...

Re: Strange Times
Sherm,
I am considered by family and friends a General when it comes to marital warfare.
Guys do not realize that doing everything on the honeydo list dooms them to ever more extensive lists. The trick is to get to such matters "soon," and then at your leisure. When the art is perfected, whenever you actually do something, it is appreciated rather than expected.

Re: Strange Times
Okies, General........how do I get my husband to do anything on his honey do list without nagging? I hate to be a nag, but if I swear short of standing on my head and spitting nickels I've tried everything else to get some of these tasks done.

Re: Strange Times
Well Stephanie it's simply Skinner-based behavioralism (understand that most, but not all, of this is tongue in cheek)
If a husband gives into nagging, that is a positive reinforcement for nagging. All it teaches the nagging spouse (of either gender) is that nagging works and should be continued.
My advice to anyone in Stephanie's situation is, if what's on the list is truly important, try to find someone else to do it for money. That way, if the husband is frugal, he'll be quicker to do the job in the future, and if he's given to overspending, well, then the job gets done anyway now doesn't it?

Re: Strange Times
Sherm,
I can't stay angry with that man. In this relationship I'm the one that's "whipped". *sighs*
Michael,
I'll tell you what I did make the mistake of doing.......a few of these things myself! OMG what a mistake. I used a power drill and now he acts like I'm Bob the Builder. sheeesh
I do think I'll try your suggestion this week. I'll pinch his new car stereo fund and see how amusing that is to him. lol
