Re: A “Test” of their Yellow Badge of Courage
Hitler didn't have the resources to invade Europe in the 20's or early 30's either. I think to abandon Iraq and turn it over to those...
...who would seize control is condeming our children and their children and future generations to come to a fight they cannot win. I prefer not to do that.

Re: A “Test” of their Yellow Badge of Courage
Oooohhh! Is that black turban supposed to scare me? The junkies from Guns & Roses had a much better grasp on these needless, preemptive wars than you do.
Look at your young men fighting
Look at your women crying
Look at your young men dying
The way they've always done before
Look at the hate we're breeding
Look at the fear we're feeding
Look at the lives we're leading
The way we've always done before
My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands time can't deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies of our civil wars
And
I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
Look at the shoes your filling
Look at the blood we're spilling
Look at the world we're killing
The way we've always done before
Look in the doubt we've wallowed
Look at the leaders we've followed
Look at the lies we've swallowed
And I don't want to hear no more
My hands are tied
For all I've seen has changed my mind
But still the wars go on as the years go by
With no love of God or human rights
'Cause all these dreams are swept aside
By bloody hands of the hypnotized
Who carry the cross of homicide
And history bears the scars of our civil wars

Only if he takes control of Iraq.
Considering you don't have a clue as to who he is though, I'm not suprised by your response.

LOL Perhaps you're afraid of al Sadr but I'm not. He's a pimple on the butt of humanity.

Re: A “Test” of their Yellow Badge of Courage
The only Americans he poses a genuine threat to are those poor souls in Iraq.
Re: A “Test” of their Yellow Badge of Courage
I don't think he poses a threat to America right now either. But with time and control, in time he will. I would prefer not to let that happen.

Re: A “Test” of their Yellow Badge of Courage
I agree with Aaron to the extent that genocidal leaders cannot develop their resources overnight. I do think, however, that in retrospect (in which hindsight is always 20/20) the scrutiny on Hussein was stunting his goals and Hussein himself, as a dictator, was able to control the elements like Al Sadr within Iraq.
But what I can say, and I have not before, is that I cannot help but think that Al Qaeda has decided, for whatever reason, to make Iraq it's battleground rather than the United States. So while our premises for going into war were most likely wrong (I still take umbrage at the idea that we have "proven" that there were no WMD's, with Syria right there and a whole lot of space with sand, although it's obvious Iraq wasn't the threat it was thought to be) I do like the idea of fighting Al Qaeda in Baghdad and not in Berkeley. Wait, we are fighting them there, too, I guess......

Seems I recall the war drummers in the 60s telling us something similar.
Same old same old.

It's not all in "retrospect". Some of us- a bunch of us, actually- told you so, and BEFORE the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
Hell, in 1994 even Dick Cheney told you so. But then he forget.

So we got into the right war- just for the wrong reasons?
