Edwards v Obama
Well if the pundits are correct about the political demise of Hillary, the contest will get real interesting.
Beginning in South Carolina, which Edwards won 4 years ago.
It will depend somewhat on how it shapes up as Hillary bows out.
She could endorse someone else, who knows?

Hillary's got something Johnboy ain't Sherm. Money. It's a 2 horse race all right and Obama's one horse. At least you got that part right.

Although I do not believe he will be the GOP nominee, Mike Huckabee has done remarkably well with very little money and far less initial name recognition than Edwards. I wouldn't be counting Edwards out by any means. If he does well in NH too the money should start pouring in.
Re: Edwards v Obama
Howard Dean said the same thing in aught 4. He conceded just after super Tuesday I believe.
But I'm not counting him out. I never counted him in. As for Huck, Robo and I talked about him a couple of months back. It was one of maybe 3 things he said I was right about. BTW, what I said was that evangelical Christians would come out in droves to support him.

Re: Edwards v Obama
Well Aaron a lot has happened this past week.
I am not sure I would not have voted for Hillary myself if I had been in NH.
Just like I told you before I did not vote for Clinton (Bill) but by the end of his term the clinton-haters had me so turned off I would have voted for him if he could of run for a third term.

Well Sherm, it's good to see you on the political boards. So what does your boy do now, besides draw votes away from Obama?

You can vote for him. A vote for Hillary is a vote for Bill.

I don't think so OC. Unlike Bill, I don't think she's willing to share the spot light.

Re: Edwards v Obama
Well I think the Obama Fairy Tale hurt Edwards in NH a lot.
I think a lot of people started having second thoughts and wanted to see a little more before signing the bottom line.
And Hillary was seen as the alternative.
Edwards also hurt himself by piling on Hillary when she was down.

Had Obama distanced Edwards by a few percentage points I might agree with you Sherm. 20% and nearly 60,000 votes isn't a fairy tale though. If Obama draws 10% more of the Edwards vote then Hillary does, then he wins NH. The only thing Edwards is going to do going forward is take votes away from Obama and hand the nomination to Hillary. If Johnboy truly believed the change crap and didn't want to see Hillary elected, he'd drop out now.

Re: Edwards v Obama
Well I do not see Edwards dropping out.
I have no crystal ball obviously.
But it looks to me right now that the kingmakers (who control the media among other things) are getting their match-up between Hillary and Obama.
But Edwards is still the wild card.
If he can gather 20% of the delegates, he will be in the catbird seat.
Dont forget Politics makes for strange bedfellows.
(and on the Dem side it usually involves someone of the opposite sex.)

And it's exactly that kind of thinking by Edwards that will give the nomination to Hillary, imo. He's not a viable candidate. Hillary has 50M cash on hand, Obama has 36, Edwards has 12. Obama just got the endorsement of the labors union in Nevada which Edwards needed. In his home state of SC, which was the only primary he won in 2004, he's polling at 13%, 20% below both Obama and Hillary. Nationally, he's polling a little below that and with Richardson out, the votes he pulls from Obama does even more damage now.
You know all of this but as you've said once or twice before Sherm...Loving eyes never see!!!

A lot goes on behind closed doors. If she can keep him away from the interns, he would be able to run an awful lot and she could just be the mouthpiece in the spotlight.

Once again, that's assuming she will let him. I just don't see it that way. He said when he was running a vote for him was a vote for her. She was ask the same question last summer/fall and she danced around in her answer saying that while she would seek his advice on some matters, it was her running and she would have final say on decisions.
I think that if she wins, she'll wisk him off to Africa, Europe and other places keeping him out of Washington as much as possible until after the next election. When it's over I think their marriage is over and once they leave office both of them will be free to live their lifestyle as they choose, at least that's mho.
