My friend Ed Burgess won. Yippeee!!!
Almost as good, Lidella Hrutkay lost her primary. Good riddance.

Re: Election Results
Check out Braxton County. With 21 or 22 precincts in, the levy is 50% to 50% with only forty votes difference. That last precinct is going to decided it.

The Calhoun County sheriff-elect has that project going on.

Am I losing it? I show Ed Burgess coming in seventh out of seven - vote for five.

Re: Election Results
I see what you're saying about Ed. Presently, (according to WSAZ) he's seventh out of eight. Vote for seven. And they've declined to call it despite the fact that 100% of the vote is in.

Re: Election Results
I guess Bob Bastress will have to settle for working 10 hours a week at WVU for his $130k+ instead of being a supreme court judge.
WV Supreme Court D -- 1,894 of 1,894 precincts reporting (100%)
Margaret Workman [D] 179,164 36% (X)
Menis Ketchum [D] 134,686 27% (X)

Jim, that was for the Bond, 50% to 50%.
The Levy is 54% to 46% against.
There were two differents ballots.
I sure as hell hope the final count is "against" with both of them.
And that just show to go ya, ........ how many people in Braxton depends on the BOE for their income.
I'm satisified with the rest ....... except the Sheriff race. The "vote split" worked great for George. That Johnny Wines pulled enough to give George the lead.

Re: Election Results
Sam, those results update every eight minutes. They're still showing 95% of the precincts in and not calling any winners.

Interactive maps that show county-by-county breakdown:
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/state/#WV
I only found two counties where Obama cracked 40% - Jefferson and Berkley

Re: Election Results
I don't know how many people I spoke to that didn't vote because he didn't have a chance.
Not enough mind you to get him over 40% but still, it was a fair number.
I just wonder if he'll pay us a little more attention come the fall.

Have they counted absentee ballots and all those early votes? I think Ed is safe, at least I hope so. Also, Victoria Casey won too. You may have met her at the convention, Jimmy. She'll make a wonderful delegate if she's successful in November.
Oh, and Spike Maynard lost, another thing to celebrate. Dan Greear won, I'm pleased about that.

And maybe he can help poor ole' Spike Maynard find a new job.

Personally I liked Spike Maynard. But I'm okay with it. I think Peggy Workman will be an objective judge. I have a problem with Menis. I'll adjust. I always do.

Re: Election Results
I once asked my husband, "What kind of a name is Menis?"
The smartass replied in usual form with, "A bad one."
Does this mean the Republican Walker has no prayer?

She's a nice kid from the Akron-Canton area. She went to Hillsdale College up in Michigan. Married well.
I doubt she has much courtroom experience and think she's always specialized in what we used to call personnel issues. She hasn't a snowball's chance...

That's probably too much work for Spike. Besides, do we really want someone who's dumb enough to have their picture taken with a defendant in a case coming before their court that involves hundreds of millions of dollars teaching our future lawyers? Isn't the legal system FUBAR'ed as it is?

As I live near Chicago, I can vote in any election I want to throughout the country, living or dead. As such, you had my vote!
I do wish I could vote for you; it's so rare that I can actually be proud of my vote.

Oh, bless your heart! Ron Paul got 5% of the vote or about 5,186 (approximately). I don't think I'm going anywhere. On the flip side, I can with a clear conscience continue to brag that Minnesota and I have no legal claims upon one another.

Re: Election Results
Jimmy,
I'm going to throw my hat in the ring to be a delegate at the WVGOP summer convention. It's on June 21st in Flatwoods. Alternate delegates will be selected that day and I'm pretty sure the state party platform will be developed that day. You should see if you can't get appointed a delegate to that. It might be interesting. It might be pure and utter torture, but we won't know unless we do it. lol

It might be an opportunity to share a cold beer with a devil's advocate I know in the neighborhood.

Re: Election Results
Yeppers. Each county is having a "county convention". Mine is on Monday. Hopefully yours hasn't occured yet. Even if it has there may still be time. I know in Kanawha they didn't have enough people there to fill all the slots so they were out seeking more folks to seat as delegates. Pathetic, isn't it?
