The Quran and hadiths all say kill non muslims. Sura 8:12 says cut off the heads and Sura 9:1-30 says kill them. Sura 8:60 says Jews and Christians are apes and pigs...

Most of- arguably all of- the "faces" of the world are neither "white" nor "black"- but shades of gray/red/yellow/blue in between. That is part of the problem with religious absolutism- it combines some arbitrary black-white right-wrong combination into a doctrinal mish-mash of poison stew unfit for human consumption. When it's rejected, it is often then force-fed down the throats of its victims in a frenzy of spiritual genocide.

I naturally disagree, Zig. Religion can be misused but it does not mean that "black-white, absolute" faith is therefore invalid.

Obviously I do not believe that whites or blacks or Arabs are somehow able or unable to enter paradise based on the ethnicity of their parents. While I believe that God has blessed Israel and the Jewish people, I do not think that they get a pass in, either.

I think it is invalid when it is represented as the only God-sanctioned "black-white, absolute" faith there is.

Why would it be invalid to believe (and preach) a faith to the exclusion of all others?

Two plus two equals four. It does not equal three or five. If asserting that two plus two always equals four is not invalid, then neither is arguing that there is one True religion. Of course, it does not follow (I see you, TerryRC:), that somehow there MUST only be one answer, but rather that there CAN be.

Two and two equals four ONLY if there are at least two of two each, and no more than two of two each. Two and two does not equal four if there are more secreted away, or that the two of two each we think we see are not actually there. The world has been, is and will continue to be full of spiritual magicians spinning spiritual mirages.

The Bible says all kinds of crazy things. Sometimes it calls for violence. It seems to me that folks like you overlook the violence and sexism of the Bible, or perhaps excuse it away. The Jews believe they are the "chosen people" and millions and millions of Christians agree with that sentiment. Your bible says so. Is that not racist? Christian scripture has been used as an excuse for everything from burning witches to gassing Jews.

I say bah @ organized religion.
