Niether you nor Terry has managed to explain why you have the right to force me using the power of the government to use or dispose of a my property in a manner that I disapprove of. anctually neither one of you can mannage to give one good reason.

I did. You ignored it.

First, you can not use your property as you see fit. Particularly if it affects your neighbors. You can't put a garbage burning plant or a honky-tonk on it for instance, without getting the permission of your neighbors.

Second, if you are allowed to discriminate as an individual, you can get your neighbors together and discriminate as a group, giving you the ability to keep blacks, gays, papists and other undesirables out of town. That is why you can't serve "whites only" or "heteros only".

This was done in this country many times over the years and was allowable under "separate but equal".

Segregation laws were found to be illegal. You still want a de facto right to practice it.

Sorry, Charlie. You can't send the gays to the back of the bus.

I noticed you quite ignored this:

Why won't you rent to them? Because you don't see them as a person. You would rent to others, but not them.

In Utah, mormons wouldn't rent to blacks because the Book of Mormon teaches that blacks are sub-human.

You are saying that type of behavior is OK. You are saying it is OK to discriminate.

I have your number, Willy. Judge not lest ye...

There is clearly an impasse.

I ask this--do you think that those restaurants which require a shirt and tie are discriminating against those who prefer not to where them? Do expensive restaurants discriminate against those who cannot afford to eat there?

I cannot afford to live in Chicago's Boys' Town. Are they discriminating against me for not being wealthy?

Or do you also favor controlling how much landlords can charge in rent?

You are making a false analogy.

Is it discrimination to say "shirt and shoes" required? No. Is it discrimination to not give me 1 million dollar loan based on my 35k income? No. Nobody in my income level, black, gay or scientologist, would get that loan.

The playing field is level.

If a gay man can afford what Willy is charging and has a list of references, it doesn't matter. There is no amount of money, fame or responsibility that will make Willy rent to them.

No level field.

Or do you also favor controlling how much landlords can charge in rent?

Now you are just putting words in my mouth. You are obviously out of arguments, also.

I am not making a false analogy, Terry. Landlords "discriminate" all the time. They discriminate based on credit reports and yearly incomes. As it is their property, they should be able to do what they want with it, and when I don't like what they do (in terms of charging exhorbitant rent), I simply go elsewhere.

Just like any gay couple can do. It's not as though they either rent from Willy or go homeless. They are not being denied the right to housing, but rather the right to that particular house or apartment. Just as I am not denied the right to housing, but I am denied certain places to live.

Ziggy, why would you want to deny those people that?

Ziggy and Terry,

Frankly we are spining our wheels with this and I'm getting tired of it. As far as using my property as I see fit, you are right i can't thanks to people sticking their noses where it doesn't belong and politicans seeking to control every facet of human life. However, that doesn't mean I don't, you can ask the town council where I live sometime. When they decided that I could not alter the outside of my house without the permission of the historic society, I dared them to do something about it and I sided my house.

As far as selling or renting my house to a homosexual couple, adulterous couple, or unmarried couple, like it or not I won't and no law is going to make me do it. If you don't like it, all I can say too stinking bad.

You people talk at good fight when it comes to liberty, but niether of you walk the walk.

Now if it makes you feel like men, you win.
