Nice, witty repartee. How is my opinion unfounded, then?
You will sell them food but not a house?
You won't starve them but you will put them on the street?
If you are exhibiting "christian compassion", I am proud to not be a member of your club.
Tell me something Terry how is requiring me to rent to people I have no desire to different from you being required to fund "faith based" that provide help to the needing, drug addicts, and the like?

I asked you first. Just answer the question.
How is selling a gay a soda not condoning their lifestyle but letting them rent space is ?
You want to be a bigot, fine. You want to treat a group of people as if they are second-class and undeserving of the same rights that you have, fine.
Don't expect us to applaud you for it. Don't expect the government to, either.

Well, the latter is taken out of my tax dollars and the former is...
... wait, who was speaking of apples and oranges?
You are not required to rent at all. If you do rent, however, you are not allowed to discriminate.
This is well established. A HOA tried to keep a gay couple out and got their pants sued off of them.
Sorry, we can't lock the gays up in reservations, although I know you would approve.

So you get all tore up about your tax dollars being used for faith based items but it is quite alright for the very same government to tell me how I can and can't use my property or who I can and can't rent or sell it to. Seems like a kinda hypocritical stance to me.

I'm not in the renting business, Sammy. The fact is, though, that gays are likely to treat that apartment better that your average hetero, and you know it.
No shit, Dick Tracy.
And that is why you want to sit on what you think is your high n' mighty ass and tell others what they should do.

Wait.........did TerryRC just use a bare assertion?
Re: Student Sues Professor
I find making someone conduct their business or profession a certain way to be absolutely repulsive. Gay males are the wealthiest demographic imaginable. Go to any gay area of any city and you'll find that it is either the nicest or among the nicest parts of town. Lakewood, Ohio, San Francisco's Castro district, Chicago's Boys' Town, etc. are all very chic and expensive places to live with great coffee.
It's not as though gays don't have housing options. I find it absolutely totalitarian of a government to tell someone they have to rent to someone whose lifestyle they disagree with. It's not as though they will otherwise be homeless, and even if that be so, let the many, many wealthy gay groups get them a bus ticket to more friendly environs.
If TerryRC is correct about gays being better renters (and perhaps he is), then they should have no problem in the free market (dang I wish it were truly free) finding a place to live every bit as nice or nicer.

Now right now Terry is thinking of a racial analogy, and let me also say that if a restaurant or bar does not want to serve white people, I do not care. I'll go somewhere else. I know of a bar in South Holland, Illinois, in which the bartender does not serve white people. Guess where I DON'T ever go?

Nope. I've had gay roommates, though.
At worst, you could call it an assertion based upon anecdotal evidence.
Look at the orientation of just about every famous fashion designer and home decorator, though...

Come back when you have something relevant to contribute.

I'll ask again, Terry, are such people suffering from lack of housing?
No.

Civil rights laws are NOT taxes. Come up with a valid analogy and I'll bite, maybe.
You seem to support "separate but equal".
Gays have the right to live and be free... as long as they do it at the back of the bus.
I didn't make the civil rights laws, them damn "liberal" presidents were behind it - Lincoln, Hoover, Truman...
Do I support them? To a limited extent.

What if every bar in the town did the same? What if the landlords and grocers did the same?
How far are you going to run, Sheik? Will you let bigots drive you out of the state? The country?
Don't sat there isn't historical precedent for it, either. We both know better.

No, it is exactly the same thing. You are grasping at straws again. Either is the taking of the fruits of one's labor and foring one to comnply with ho w it is used.
TerryRC wrote:You seem to support "separate but equal".

I also have rights. Among those rights is the right to associate with whom I please. That means if I don't desire to rent to a homosexual couple thenit is tyranny to foce me to rent to them.

This isn't a civil rights issue. I'm not denying anyone their rights. Just because I choose not to rent the property I bought and paided for and pay taxes on to them, denies them nothing. They are more than welcome to go elsewhere and rent or buy.
By the way, what is your limited extent? Is it until you are forced to participate in something to which you disagree?

You do NOT have the right to discriminate.
If you are open to the public, that means ALL of the public, not just the bit you deem worthy.
Try and refuse service to some one because they are a darkie. See where that gets you.

I don't believe in affirmative action or hate crime legislation.
I was spot on with that, wasn't I.

Are you saying affirmative action isn't a civil rights issue? Are you saying I should support it? That I shouldn't?
Nothing of value to contribute, Sammy?
Color me surprised.
Keep hatin'.

Typical.
What was your point in quoting me when I said don't believe in affirmative action?
Do I have to support it? You bet.
Ohhh... think I get it. Sam was saying that, because I'm not a woman or a minority, my point is invalid.
He would be wrong, of course, but we've all seen that before.

BTW, "ribbet" is the sound a frog makes. "Rivet" is a fastening device.
You are so intent on trashing me that you can't even keep on topic.
