Well, they said they were going to change the "culture of corruption."
They did. They made it more effective with MSM complicity.

Re: This would be a crime, if she was GOP...
On the day the new Congress convened this year, Sen. Dianne Feinstein introduced legislation to route $25 billion in taxpayer money to a government agency that had just awarded her husband's real estate firm a lucrative contract to sell foreclosed properties at compensation rates higher than the industry norms, the Washington Times reported on Tuesday.
Documents reviewed by The Washington Times show Mrs. Feinstein first offered Oct. 30 to help the FDIC secure money for its effort to stem the rise of home foreclosures. Her letter was sent just days before the agency determined that CB Richard Ellis Group (CBRE) - the commercial real estate firm that her husband Richard Blum heads as board chairman - had won the competitive bidding for a contract to sell foreclosed properties that FDIC had inherited from failed banks.
About the same time of the contract award, Mr. Blum's private investment firm reported to the Securities and Exchange Commission that it and related affiliates had purchased more than 10 million new shares in CBRE. The shares were purchased for the going price of $3.77; CBRE's stock closed Monday at $5.14. (Not so shoddy, that is currently a $13,700,000 profit.)
Spokesmen for the FDIC, Mrs. Feinstein and Mr. Blum's firm told The Times that there was no connection between the legislation and the contract signed Nov. 13, and that the couple didn't even know about CBRE's business with FDIC until after it was awarded.

Would this be criminal, if it involved a Republican?

Sources: Wiretap Recorded Rep. Harman Promising to Intervene for AIPAC
By Jeff Stein, CQ SpyTalk Columnist
Rep. Jane Harman , the California Democrat with a longtime involvement in intelligence issues, was overheard on an NSA wiretap telling a suspected Israeli agent that she would lobby the Justice Department reduce espionage-related charges against two officials of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, the most powerful pro-Israel organization in Washington.
Harman was recorded saying she would "waddle into" the AIPAC case "if you think it'll make a difference," according to two former senior national security officials familiar with the NSA transcript.
In exchange for Harman's help, the sources said, the suspected Israeli agent pledged to help lobby Nancy Pelosi , D-Calif., then-House minority leader, to appoint Harman chair of the Intelligence Committee after the 2006 elections, which the Democrats were heavily favored to win.
Seemingly wary of what she had just agreed to, according to an official who read the NSA transcript, Harman hung up after saying, "This conversation doesn't exist."
Harman declined to discuss the wiretap allegations, instead issuing an angry denial through a spokesman.
"These claims are an outrageous and recycled canard, and have no basis in fact," Harman said in a prepared statement. "I never engaged in any such activity. Those who are peddling these false accusations should be ashamed of themselves."

Re: This would be a crime, if she was GOP...
This is all very unfair. The most ethical Congress in history did in fact change ethics rules. It is now illegal for a lobbyist or anyone employed by a company that hires a lobbyist to make a gift to a Congressional staffer in excess of $50 per occurrence or $100 cumulatively per year. Of course, on the other hand, it also makes it completely legal for Diane Feinstein to step outside her presumptive role as an "expert" in intelligence (I'd hate to have to prove that one on any level) and to step into TARP enforcement and award her husband a $25 billion contract to sell repossessed residential properties despite the fact his company specializes in commercial real estate. This is true so long as no one is paying attention. The mainstream media is concentrating its resources on Bo, the President's new Portugese Waterdog. Can you blame them?

Bo and Michelle's wardrobe. Don't forget how important the First Lady's attire has suddenly become.

...and Michelle's wardrobe.
This is a rich addendum: Harman, a reliable cheerleader for Boosh wiretapping has suddenly become a civil libertarian.

The First Lady was resplendent in a sleeveless a-line gown by Antoine. Her gown was set off by the new addition to the White House, Bo, a Portugese Waterdog. More as it develops...

Suddenly? Have you forgotten how important both Mamie Eisenhower's and Jackie Kennedy's wardrobes were to trendsetting women's dress styles of that era?

No. But, I remember Mrs. Reagan and both Mrs. Bush being castigated for extravagance in clothing. Don't you? What about Sara Palin? Did anyone ever ask how much the O's suits cost?

Obviously Stephanie cares. She is the one who expressed interest in "how important the First Lady's attire has suddenly become".

Damn right! Stephanie cares a whole lot!
I don't care a hoot about what Michelle Obama is wearing. I do care a great deal that the MSM is focusing on who designed her dress and where she purchased that cardigan rather than actually reporting facts on the important issues facing our nation.
Everyone should.
