Why isn't there a difference of 'seconds' which is all it takes as Sherman has said?

Our county clerk instructs poll workers to not use a stopwatch to time voters. Normally, whether it takes someone 2 minutes or 8 minutes to cast a ballot, no one pays much attention. But if someone takes an extraordinary long time to vote- especially if many voters are waiting in line- pollworkers will inquire of the voter if he / she needs any assistance. Sometimes it is just as simple as someone having great difficulty reading the names on the ballot. And sometimes the voter seems to have had no prior thought as to whom he / she might want to vote for. And sometimes, but rarely, a voter will ask, "Who should I vote for?"

Perhaps that's why the individuals in the booth were so much slower then me, they hadn't made up their mind.

Re: Prominent Kan. Co. pol calls for paper ballots
I voted by paper ballot again. I don't know why, I just prefer it. I'd bet anything I spent more than 5 minutes voting.....but I wrote in several names. I came prepared though, with my list of write-in candidates.
The ladies at my polling place were in a state of utter confusion. One thing they did that I found discouraging was they began to prevent a third voter from entering the polling place. When I arrived it was just before 6:30 and there was a man that had been there from 6:00am. When they allowed us in they seemed totally clueless as how to proceed.
They were questioning where we needed to sign, whether or not to mark if we had chosen a paper ballot etc. I didn't get out of there until 7:10!
In any event, the guy ahead of me requested a paper ballot too. So when a third voter started to walk in while this gentleman and I were voting they told him he'd have to wait outside. This caused a disagreement among the poll workers who finally agreed that if that gentleman agreed to vote electronically, he could enter.
I found it a collossal waste of time. There were two "booths" of each kind. Even if all 4 were occupied wouldn't it make sense to look them up, sign, get their stub prepared etc? It just didn't make sense to me and I have witnessed lengthy lines at polling places but never heard of folks being told they had to wait outside in the elements. Fortunately yesterday was a nice day, but what if it weren't?
The ladies were very nice. They were the same group I saw on primary day. Perhaps it was just too early in the morning for them.

I too will take off my Ron Paul bumper stickers. My Choose Freedom bracelet stays though and I will continue to sport my Old Right Good Ideas Never Die button.
I am what I am and I accept Obama will be my President but that doesn't mean I'll lay down and just accept socialism in my country. I'll fight him tooth and nail every step of the way.

I don't have any bumper stickers or buttons. Barrack Obama, for better or worse, is my President. I realized a week ago that was the only outcome that was actually good for America.
Had McCain won, it would have been a narrow victory and after 2000 and 2004 and the democrats history of their inability to accept GWB as their President coupled with the racial ramifications, I cannot imagine what would be going on today had John McCain won.
As a nation, we would have been in a worse situation at any time since the mid 1800's. If Barrack Obama truly wants to be everyone's President as he says he does and promote unity, then one of his first acts should be to go to Reid/Pelosi and instruct them to withhold card check legislation.
Republican Senators cannont let that legislation pass and the best way to promote unity is to just not bring it forth.
