Re: "We Will Pass Card Check"
This should have been enacted 60 years ago.
Also need to get rid of taft-hartley.
Return to the time when families did not have to have both parents to work two jobs to survive.
We need to bring labor laws into the 20th century.
It will be a great day for America when working people can stand tall and proud when dealing with Big Business.
Not come shuffling with hat in hand.

Who needs a secret ballot? Secret ballot is undemocratic.

Re: "We Will Pass Card Check"
I think we all know that average working Americans can't make any kind of informed decision. You give them information, they're just going to make bad choices, right Sherm?
They're not going to be shuffling with hat in hand to "Big Business". They're going to be kissing ass and paying off the union bosses instead.
Sounds like a win/win situation to me.

Hell, you got no one to blame for that except FDR. Entitlement spending has forced taxes to jump from an average of 8% of the American workers paycheck in the 50's to over 30% today, who pays over 7% in Medicare and SS taxes alone. That's on top of federal, state and local taxes. I don't know about you but if I had the extra 24% of my income, I would be living high on the hog. As Ronnie said, Government isn't part of the solution; they're part of the problem. Until you guys learn that and drastically reduce the monstrosity we call the federal government and eliminate cradle to grave entitlement care, our taxes are going to be 30% higher then they need to be.
If we're lucky. At the rate that this socialist bunch we got in office is spending these days, it'll jump to 40% in no time.

Sorry Sodbuster but you're wrong here. Not taking into account that we already live under some of the most liberal labor laws in our history (much of which can be directly attributed to the work done by unions 30 to 60 years ago), today’s union will do nothing to improve labor laws. The union abdicated that responsibility to the United States Government years ago and they won't get that power back, card check or none.

Like you and your wife, huh?
Pulling in $70K or $80K per year.
And that is why the poor folk man and wife has to work to put food on the table.
What does it take, 100 such couples to keep you checks coming in?

Re: "We Will Pass Card Check"
Like I said elsewhere Sam I figure I paid more tax than you did the past five years.
Unless you lied in previous posts.
Not counting taxes paid on my wife's teaching salary or my retirement.
Your whole nission in life seems to be to slander and insult the very people who support you.

The Detroit News editorializes that ill-advised cap-and-trade legislation will be the final nail in Michigan's coffin:

Most probably so, but only on your truck driving wages, ..... the only non-taxpayer funded job you have ever had.
Geeeze, the only taxes I have paid in the past 10 years or so are sales taxes, cigarette taxes, property taxes and vehicle taxes.
sodbuster wrote:Not counting taxes paid on my wife's teaching salary or my retirement.
That's right, I told you you can't count those taxes because the private sector working, property owning taxpayers pay them.
DUH, that is all the Public Employees and Teachers harp about, .... needing more money because the cost of living and their taxes keep going up. And they are given more taxpayer money to appease them.
sodbuster wrote:Your whole nission in life seems to be to slander and insult the very people who support you.
HORSEFEATHERS, no one has supported me since I graduated from school.
And I have never sucked-up, lied, stolen, ignored the Law or performed illegal acts ..... just to keep a job, .... either. Go ahead, tell me you can say the same.
One of my missions in life is to help clean up the "hog-trough" that you have been feeding out of for years ...... while pretending you really care about the less fortunate people in the State.
An impossible task, because the majority "Don't give a shit", ...... but I still try.
An impossible task unless the children are educated, but the "powers to be" who are in charge of that also belong to the aforementioned group.

You are a heckuva guy Sam.
But a word to the wise.
When you make accusations about someone performing illegal acts like that you are on thin ice.
And you put the forum managers on thin ice as well.

You are not wearing a badge Sherman, so quit acting silly.
I made no such accusations.
I made a statement ..... and then queried you to make the same.
You can do said or refuse to do said, ...... that is your choice.

Re: "We Will Pass Card Check"
Statement of Dr. Anne Layne-Ferrar to US Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions
Biography Dr. Layne-Farrar
The statistical analysis in “Economic Implications” suggests that if EFCA were to increase union membership by the amounts its proponents predict, that is by 5 to 10 percentage points within a year of enactment, then we can expect the employment rate to
fall by around 0.9 to 2.3 percentage points in the following year. Again, to put these figures into perspective, start from January’s labor statistics. From this base, US employment would drop by 550,000 to 2.6 million jobs by 2010, not counting any losses due to the recession or other factors.
Biography Dr. Layne-Farrar
Re: "We Will Pass Card Check"
I fail to understand why when we are trying to emerge from a recession we want to pass a job-killing measure and set the recovery back. Perhaps you'd rather the Red Chinese emerged first? Obama owes more loyalty to the AFL-CIO than he does to working American families. What a sham!

Re: "We Will Pass Card Check"
Funny how it's a topic those demanding card check completely ignore.
Perhaps the goal is to have the few remaining with "high paying union jobs" support the rest of us poor, ignorant slobs.

Re: "We Will Pass Card Check"
They talk out of both sides of their mouth. We're un-American because we fail to support the "stimulus". They're red, white, and blue when they support stifling the secret ballot and job-killing. Go figure.
