Two words that don't belong together, Ethics and Democrats
From the Wall Street Journal -
The Senate Ethics Committee has been looking into possible conflicts of interest in Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd's 2003 mortgages. Now questions about another Dodd real-estate adventure, this one in Ireland, should keep the Ethicists even busier. All the more because Mr. Dodd's "cottage" purchase involves a crooked stock trader for whom the Senator once did a very big political favor.
The rest of the story
For all you lefties, democrat lovers, and "we need a level playing feild" types, Chrissy baby is one of the people that set the stage for the reccession we are now in.

Re: Two words that don't belong together, Ethics and Democrats
Mr. Dodd is busy these days blaming everyone else for the real-estate bubble and financial meltdown. But he owes his constituents and the Senate an honest accounting of his Galway property over the past 15 years. If its value grew with the rest of the area, he needs to explain why Mr. Kessinger handed it over for a song, why that isn't an unreported gift under Senate rules, and what role Mr. Downe might have played as a middleman.
He also needs to answer for his dealings with Countrywide and for political contributions and dealings with both FM's.
Holding both Chris Dodd and Barney Frank accountable would go a long way in showing our President truly wants change. Doing nothing shows he's the same old same old.

Ohio County hits the nail on the head, they should get straight to prison.
If this had been about a republican I would have said exactly the samething, republicans and ethics are two words that don't belong together. Believe me, there are just as many republicans I hold in contempt for the unethical, immoral behavior as I do democrats. I think I have made that quite clear a number of times in my posts.

As someone who still prefers the Republicans to the Democrats (but increasingly as someone prefers syphilis to herpes), I want Republican crooks to go to the front of the line to the pokey.
Many Republicans have lacked ethics and many others have lacked backbones. The party is better off without them.

I said the same thing when somebody suggested Duke Cunningham should be paroled early due to illness. He should have thought of that before he sold his office to the highest bidder. Why should either party's crooks get a free ride?

I don't think Cunningham should be blindfolded and run into cactus, but whatever his crimes merit according to the law should not be amended just because he is old or infirm, just as George Ryan in Illinois is exactly where the law, and justice indeed, would have him be.
I don't see why being old should make any difference. As long as they are being medically cared for and fed, I don't see why so-called leniency is even considered. Again, it would be different if he were being sent to hard labor or left out on an ice flow, but that's just not what is happening.

This Republican wants all public officials to face the harshest penalties for their crimes the law allows. Their punishments should be more severe because they seek the public trust and they should be held to a higher standard, imho.
