An 11-year-old California girl kidnapped in 1991 while waiting for a school bus has been found alive, and a convicted sex offender is accused of raping her and fathering two children with her while he and his wife held her captive in their backyard.

Despite the shocking revelations, the discovery of Jaycee Lee Dugard brought sudden relief to her family 18 years after their young girl disappeared.

Dugard was being kept with the two children in a series of tents and sheds hidden behind the Antioch, Calif., home of Phillip and Nancy Garrido, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday at a news conference.

Dugard and her two daughters are "in good health, but living in a backyard for the past 18 years does take its toll," Undersheriff Fred Kollar said.

Pretty soon 50% of every private worker's paycheck will be taken to support the government, 32% to support all the learning disabled, drunks and druggies and 26% to pay for the incarceration of prisoners.

We have far too many people incarcerated, Sam. We lock up people for "victimless" crimes. We criminalize addicts and turn juvenile offenders into harden criminals. The number of citizens in our prison system is the direct result of an out of control government and it has lead to the release of murders, pedophiles and other violent criminals into society where they are free to commit more crimes.

Now Steph, I partly agree with the first part ..... but you know better than that on the latter.

Most of the addicts are hardened criminals before they ever get locked up the first time ...... and many of those juvenile offenders are likewise. And you are not going to "run out of a supply of either" until you start "cracking heads n'' asses" before they reach puberty.

The number of citizens in our prison system is the direct result of those citizens doing something illegal and getting caught and convicted for doing it.

And the release of murders, pedophiles and other violent criminals into society where they are free to commit more crimes is a direct result of public apathy and its demands that they be released before their maximun sentence is served.

Have you ever heard of anything more asinine and idiotic than sentencing a felon to "life in prison but with the possibility of parole in 5 years"?

The numbers of both juvenile and adult "offenders" is going to continue to increase substantially because those inclined to be said knows that their chances of getting caught is like "93 to 7" in their favor and their chances of having to serve a maximum sentence even if they are convicted is like "80 to 20" in their favor.

If only the Poker Machines and the Lotteries provided one such great "odds" of winning.

GEEEZE Steph, iffen ya keep all the criminals locked up then the Criminal Lawyers, ATF, Cops, etc. can't make any money.
