Obama and his democratic minons in congress do it again!!!!
The deficit is now at an all time record. $1.4 trillion dollars. George Bush may have been a clutz and the republican congress under him for most of his two temr more like democrats, but they have been outdone by this twit we now have and the bastards that are in congress. The whole bunch should be impeached.

I don't know that you can impeach a member of Congress. I think they have to be expelled from within.
The best thing to do with them is to demand more, and withhold your vote until you get it. The Republicans rejecting John McCain might well (and I beg to God) send a message that just because someone has an R in front of their names, they are not going to get support. Or, for that matter, on the negative, we must show that a D is not necessarily a disqualifier either.

That's like the discussion I was having with Terry RC who indicated that the republicans would not be successful electorally until they embraced the centrists (not his words). I argued that there are no centrist republicans of which to speak. If republicans embrace the center they will fail to turn any democrats and alienate the conservatives who constitute their base. It is a losing proposition.
You are correct, Sheik, in that we have to insist on principle over expediency.

Willy insists that the republicans have abandoned their principles, becoming more "leftist". OC insists that there never has (or rarely has) been anything that "left" in the GOP.
I don't believe anyone is sure of the true identity of the GOP anymore.
I know of GOP'ers, like Goldwater, that struck me as being good republicans without the rabidness that the religious right adds to the mix.
I miss those republicans.

Wouldn't you all agree with my assertion that the GOP has lost its way and this is clearly demonstrated by their attempts to do socialism "better" than the Democrats?
Re: Obama and his democratic minons in congress do it again!!!!
Well within both parties there are going to be those who are more and less orthodox than others. Some in the GOP are there for social reasons, others fiscal ones, and the same for the Dems.
I do think the Republicans tried socialism to their own detriment, but I am even more upset at them for their lack of spine in general.
