Re: Obama Attends Church for 1st Time in5 Months.
A pastor decided that he needed to get out of the office more and get out among the people. There was a diner across the street from the church. He went over in the morning and ordered a piece of pie and a coffee. He introduced himself to the man sitting next to him as the pastor of the church across the street.
The man said, "That's my church! I'm a member there."
The pastor said, "Hmmm...I've been the pastor there for three years and I don't remember ever seeing you in services."
The man retorted, "Preacher, I said that I was member--NOT A FANATIC!"
Maybe Obama is not a fanatic either?

I am not an Obama fan. But I am glad that he isn't a religious fanatic.

Re: Obama Attends Church for 1st Time in5 Months.
No, I was not, OC. I was a Ralph Nader fan early on- as I have been since 1996.
In the 2008 presidential primary in West Virginia I believed that the Hillary Clinton promoters were taking advantage of whatever racism was around to promote Hillary Clinton over Obama. I did not care for that tactic, and in that primary election I was rooting for Obama- though as I am registered Mountain Party and not Democratic Party I did not vote for any Democrats in that primary.

Re: Obama Attends Church for 1st Time in5 Months.
I just can't believe people are discussing Obama's religion and citizen status. I can't even tolerate looking at him because he's such a lying, socialist prick. He's caused so much damage to our nation because of his political ideology, his arrogance, and his total lack of respect for our Constitution.
I don't care if he prays to the Hale Bopp comet and was hatched on Mars. I don't understand why anyone else would either.

I mostly agree, Stephanie- though probably for some reasons different from at least some of yours. But I respect that at least you are honest enough to just say you don't like him because of the kinds of things he does politically- rather than pretend that you are concerned that he is not the right kind of Christian. That pretense is just so phony on its face.

I think we can both agree he is a liar. Although I don't think you voted for him, I'm sure he's a disappointment to you. He's a disappointment to me. He's a disappointment to the nation and I'm quite sure that all those people who did vote for the "hope & change" hype are bitterly disappointed.

Well, our love of politicians is a little like romance; eventually the newness wears away and the warts show through and we wonder, "What could we have been thinking ........................... ".
They present themselves as bigger than life, and we want to believe them.

There's 7 of us here Ziggy so I don't know who you're trying to impress telling that same damn lie. No one is pretending he's not the right kind of Christian.

Some of you are insisting he isn't a Christian at all. If Obama says he's a Christian, he's a Christian. He attended that church with that racist lunatic minister.
Re: Obama Attends Church for 1st Time in5 Months.
If he says he's a moderate or conservative, is he a moderate or conservative?

He professes faith in Jesus Christ as savior, Aaron.
What can he do to prove he's Christian?
What should he do to prove he's Christian?
Should he?
What difference does it make?

Re: Obama Attends Church for 1st Time in5 Months.
He may be a moderate compared to some. That's a range..far right to far left with most people falling somewhere in the middle. Not so with religion. A person isn't a little bit Christian. They either believe Jesus Christ was the messiah or they don't. Those who do are Christian, all of those who don't are not.

Obama is a lot like God! He doesn't have a birth certificate either. And, there is only one MAJOR difference between Obama and God! God doesn't think that He is Obama.

I've never said he had to do anything to prove he's a christian as I really don't care. If you've read the post instead of only focusing on Ziggy's lies, you know I've said multiple times that I don't care about his religion.
Now focus because I'm going to bed soon.
Do you accept Barrack Obama as a moderate and why/why not.

Aaron, I hope you didn't wait up for a response. lol
I have an anarchist acquaintance who swears he's a corporate fascist.
I view Obama as a socialist trying to speed America along its path to oligarchy. I would not call him a moderate.

Re: Obama Attends Church for 1st Time in5 Months.
I find it interesting that you base your opinion on President Obama-who some have claimed to be moderate by the way-as a socialist by comparing his actions to your views and personal opinions that you have developed over they years from the knowledge you have gained yet you expect Christians to automatically accept his statements without question even though his actions are opposite to everything Christians have learned over the years of study, faith and the knowledge they have developed.
Seems to me that what’s good for the gander should be good for the geese as well, don’t you think!!!

Not quite, Stephanie.
Christian humanism is the belief that human freedom, individual conscience, and unencumbered rational inquiry are compatible with the practice of Christianity or even intrinsic in its doctrine. It represents a philosophical union of Christian faith and classical humanist principles.
The ancient roots of Christian humanism may be seen in Jesus' teaching of the parable of the Good Samaritan and Saint Paul's emphasis on freedom from the external constraints of religious law, as well as the appeal to classical learning by the Christian apologists. Although its roots thus reach back to antiquity, Christian humanism grew more directly out of Christian scholasticism and Renaissance humanism, both of which developed from the rediscovery in Europe of classical Latin and Greek texts.
Renaissance humanism generally emphasized human dignity, beauty, and potential, and reacted against the religious authoritarianism of the Catholic Church. While Renaissance humanists stressed science and sensuality, Christian humanists used the principles of classical learning to focus on biblical studies, theology, and the importance of individual conscience, thus creating the intellectual foundations for the Protestant Reformation.
Later Christian humanists challenged not only the Catholic Church but the authority of the Bible itself and developed liberal Christian theology of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, stressing Jesus' humanity and the realization of God's kingdom in Christian community. The term today describes a variety of philosophical and theological attitudes, but tends to reject secularist ideologies which seek to eliminate religious discussion from the political arena.
