1. The Bible will still have all the answers.
Can it tell me how to draw a Lewis Structure?
2. Prayer will still work.
Prayer has NEVER been shown to work.
Prayer is what people do if they want to help without actually doing anything.
As to the rest of your predictions, the insane will always be among us.

Terry has hope no matter who wins the election.
A far superior hope to whatever that Obama fellow is offering.

Re: NO MATTER WHO WINS THE ELECTION
Well now, I truly believe the Bible speaks more truths one can believe in ......... than they can believe in all of what Obama and the Democrats speak of.
The Democrats have been promising the poor folks of WV a "Heaven here in the hills" for the past 70+ years and have yet to provide one thing they have promised.
The Democrat leaders and their close friends and family have been too busy amassing, replenishing, refurbishing and renovating their own "Heavenly properties" to be worried about or concerned with the plight of the poor folks.

No doubt, Sam. At least we Christians say that you have to die to get to heaven, not just vote for Bob Wise.

There you go hijacking Jesus again.
Same ol, same ol....
I could point out some republican shortcomings here, but in the spirit of Terri's original post I will stifle myself...

What, because I don't believe in your Jesus/God, I am without hope?
Fairly arrogant of you, Mike....

Well I am either right or wrong. If I am right, it's not arrogance but the reality. If I am wrong, then I am among men most to be pitied.
That the response is so much more likely to be derision than pity interests me greatly.

Sherm,
You really can't tell a joke when you see one, and you'll note that Sam (who is not a Christian, you might be surprised to know) began the gag.
I do seriously contend that Democrats' promises of creating an Eden on earth are misguided. Poverty, inequality, etc. will always be among us, and the most drastic attempts to end them have instead ended millions and millions of lives.
If my belief in the depravity of man, which is completely in keeping with the Scriptures, and the inability of man to replicate Eden, is somehow "hijacking Jesus," then call me Carlos the Jackal. At least then I'd have a cool name.

The only time I ever spoke with Bob Wise was when I was in the basement of the statehouse at the cafeteria and he commented on how good my muffin looked. As I was there advocating for funding for personal assistance to help people stay out of nursing homes, and not for the muffin industry, I was disappointed when he immediately went off to buy his own muffin rather than listen to me bloviate about my cause.

Re: NO MATTER WHO WINS THE ELECTION
Well no Mike I was not responding to Sam I was responding to you.
It was you who could not resist inserting a political dig into a very profound and thought provoking post by Terry.
i.e. "A far superior hope to whatever that Obama fellow is offering."
Until that point there was no mention of politics.
Now if you amended your post to say, "A far superior hope to whatever those Obama and McCain fellows are offering" I would say Amen to that.

Re: NO MATTER WHO WINS THE ELECTION
Hope is Obama's tagline, not McCain's.
However, it is a far superior hope to whatever both Obama and McCain are offering. What you say is quite correct.

Re: NO MATTER WHO WINS THE ELECTION
I thought change was Obama's tagline.
So my question is, if he's for change, why does he vote with Pelosi/Reid so much?

That the response is so much more likely to be derision than pity interests me greatly.
I have hope for many things, both for myself and the world.
Nothing has ever shaken my belief that most people are basically good (that doesn't mean I handle them with kid gloves when I see them doing something stupid).
It doesn't take religion to feel that way.
Assuming it does IS arrogance.

Re: NO MATTER WHO WINS THE ELECTION
Well my Christian faith is not one that makes me think people are good or that the world is improving. Quite the contrary, my faith in Jesus Christ is that He will return to make things right, and anyone who trusts in Him is forgiven, and anyone who wishes to come to Him may do so.
I do not assume that it takes religion to be a good neighbor or to be a responsible citizen. I believe specifically in Jesus Christ and Him crucified and resurrected, and not in man's efforts or self-help programs.

Re: NO MATTER WHO WINS THE ELECTION
Well I believe the whole New Testament message is to love God and love your neighbor.
Especially those less fortunate.
Not despise and ridicule them.
To care for the poor, sick, and aged, and all who need it.

Well my Christian faith is not one that makes me think people are good or that the world is improving.
Why would our assessment of people's goodness or badness be dependent on our religious faith, anyway? Does it take some faith based doctrine or other to give us the right perspective on how to live with one another?

So then faith based religion is more about how to get along with God than about how to live among other men?

Re: NO MATTER WHO WINS THE ELECTION
I would say Zig that the one leads to the other.
Because I believe that I am a sinner in need of a Savior, I know well that I am no better than anyone else living on earth, who themselves are in the same boat than I am. I also know that God loves me and blesses me even though I act poorly, so I therefore know that I must treat my neighbor well even when they do not deserve it, knowing full well how well I am treated by God (and other people) when I do not deserve it.

Having said that, Zig, I would rather be right with God than right with ten thousand neighbors.

Re: NO MATTER WHO WINS THE ELECTION
When I don't feel guilty about anything. When I can sleep at night without worrying that I've done somebody else wrong. Most of that is tied to thinking I've done a good enough job as a mom to my children and wife to that amazing man who puts up with all my lunacy. Ask him, he'll tell you, there is some lunacy. lol
