Oh, but I do believe in hell- and that we make our own. That is why I am not idle.

Nah. If that were so then I wouldn't be hanging around here.

Anyone from WVA who says that they presently live in hell hasn't had to pay property taxes in cook county.
You've got me mixed up with SamCogar. He's the only one I know who likes to pretend that life is hell in WV.
I love it here, and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. If heaven ain't a like like WV, then I don't want to go.

Re: NO MATTER WHO WINS THE ELECTION
Sheik: A neighbor who quickly shows mercy and quickly forgives is a good neighbor. Love for God leads naturally to love for one's neighbor, and if the latter is missing one fears for the former.
Your words speak for themselves. If I am misconstruing what you have said, perhaps it is because I have confused the focus of your "latter" and "former". "Good neighbor=former" and "love of god=latter".
You fear that someone that lacks a love for your god is more likely to lack mercy and forgiveness.
Amazing, if so.
So, now that I have met your challenge, show me where I have hated on you or any christian.
Either that or stop labeling me as a "christian hater".

But of course as a Bible-believing Christian, I must be some sort Klukker.
You already look down at non-christians, so we know you are prejudiced...

That was a specific response to the issue of people calling themselves Christians and then not loving their neighbors.
For the sake of clarity, which I did not think was necessary, let me edit my statement to say
If someone calls themselves a Christian and does not show mercy and forgiveness, one fears that they do not actually have the love of God in their hearts.
I will also stop labelling you a Christian hater.

SheikBen wrote:Hi Zig,
I would say, without hesitation, that it is more important what God thinks of us than what our neighbors think of us.
HOWEVER (in bold just for emphasis)
I believe that the more we appreciate God's kindness and goodness to us (the rain falls on the wicked and the just), particularly those of us living in the US, the more compelled we will feel to love our neighbors and do well by them. A natural outgrowth of my Christian faith should be to quickly forgive others, as great forgiveness has been shown to me; and to exercise mercy, as great mercy has been shown to me.
A neighbor who quickly shows mercy and quickly forgives is a good neighbor. Love for God leads naturally to love for one's neighbor, and if the latter is missing one fears for the former.
Did you read the whole post or just the part that you "liked?"
The statement on neighbors who show mercy and forgiveness was an extension of my argument that Christians should naturally love their neighbors and bless them. I was not talking about unbelievers but rather about Christians or those who call themseles Christians.
If love for one's neighbor is missing one fears that the love of God is missing.
Perhaps you have have forgotten that "latter" comes after "former?" I never stated in that quote (or even implied) that people without the love of God are bad neighbors, but rather I stated (and stand by) that people who are unmerciful neighbors do not have the love of God, at least not to the extent of letting it impact their lives.
I believe it is in the book of James where it is written that someone who hates their brother who is seen cannot love God who is not seen.

Give it up Mike, .... you are engaged in a losing battle.
There ain't no way in the world you can state it or edit it that TRC can't find fault with it, ..... can't completely misunderstand it, ....... can't extract something out-of context, ........ or can't "turn it around" and blame it all on you.

Nothing to contribute but personal attacks, Sammy?
Color me surprised.
