Re: Symbols, symbolism, and proof
I don't read the Bible any more, bm. I gave that up long ago.
I do remember the teachinfs of my church however. Christ was conceived of the holy spirit and the holy spirit. Holy spirit=god=Jesus Christ, one in being, the holy trinity.
With all that edumacation of yours, you are familiar with the Christian concept of "Holy Trinity" aren't you?

The pasta, the Parmigiano, and the marinara?

You were told why it was offensive BMD even though you knew, by at least 2 people. It is considered blasphemy by members of this forum. This violates the rules for netiquette you yourself posted yet you leave the picture in your signature.
You're not interested in a substantive conversation. All you interested in is 'pissing off the religious right'. You're a coward with no credibility.

When ya' gonna' remove the dog avatar? "Dog" is "god" spelled backwards, so any pic of such a beast is blasphemy. REMOVE IT IMMEDIATELY!!!
Or, are you a coward?

Couldn't think of a reply without resorting to name calling, I see.
Re: Symbols, symbolism, and proof
You're the one who posted rules and then couldn’t follow them when you were crying about me calling you William, thus proving you're a lying hypocrite and as such, you are beneath my dog.
You've stated your intentions and you've yet to answer any of the challenges posted to you as the only response you have is the same old tried and true tripe so the way I see it, I didn't resort to anything, I stated a fact.
Honestly dick, I don't see anything positive you've added to this forum. All you’ve done is to time and again show how ignorant you are and in doing so, you’re making all atheists look bad. Keep up the good work.

Ya' mean, the truth?

No. You just resort to calling people names when your limited intellectual abilities fail you (which, it would appear, is quite often).

How about the thread you've left unanswered with Mike on your speghattie thread and with Terry H on the D'Souza essay?
Or how about Stephanie’s question regarding immigrants and breaking the law?
And that doesn’t even take into account the threads where you remain silent like the AG thread and Obama’s pick of Holder.

First, who's Mike?
And, second, all TH has done is to cut and paste D'Souza's essay w/o any analysis of his own. I replied, in kind, by referring him to Dawkins', The God Dilusion, w/o any other comment of analysis of my own.
I've answered that, repeatedly. You, or she, my not like my answer. But, that's your problem.Aaron wrote:Or how about Stephanie’s question regarding immigrants and breaking the law?
NEWSFLASH!!! I have a life.Aaron wrote:And that doesn’t even take into account the threads where you remain silent like the AG thread and Obama’s pick of Holder.
I don't have the time, or the inclination, to get involved in every thread (no matter how inane) on this board. Perhaps you have no such constraints on your time; if so, congratulations. But even with my rather limited academic obligations this term, I still have to keep far more "balls in the air"* than would allow me to spend all my time addressing every post.

Mike is SheikBen and below is just one of the posts of his you ignored. And no, you never did answer Stephanie’s question. After she ask you repeatedly and started another thread, you gave a BS answer but you ignored her question and never did answer it.
I'm quite confident she would second my statement.

You still fail to appreciate that your materialism is a faith just as is my Christianity.
D'Souza has a Catholic faith and says science fits well into it. You have a materialist faith and say that it is scientific.
It's not either position that I begrudge, but rather your insistence that somehow your prejudice is somehow more scientific than D'Souzas. Both have certain evidence to evaluate, and both you and he use your own glasses by which to view the universe and its realities.
Then of course I wonder why you feel it necessary to outrightly offend Christians. If we are merely deluded, to what advantage is it in mocking us for our delusion? Do you similarly mock people with mental retardation or mental illness?
Of course, I do not believe us to be deluded, I am just wondering what the devil you are about, here. Do you similarly treat your students with such a lack of manners?

Re: Symbols, symbolism, and proof
These are some of the questions bm refuses to answer.
So, only illegal immigrants who commit additional crimes should have to face conseqences for violating US law? Is that what you're saying?
Shouldn't Americans in Alabama and Wyoming and Ohio be concerned about the negative impact communities in Texas and Arizona and California suffer as a result of the millions of illegal aliens that flood their hospitals, schools, and prisons? Do you suppose victims of rape and murder at the hands of illegal aliens in Colorado and Pennsylvania think the impacts of illegal immigration are localized?
Why do you think my husband and Joe the plumber and Aaron in Poca and my daughter's high school physics teacher should have to pay taxes to provide services for people who knowingly choose to violate US law by crossing our border? Aren't they entitled to keep the fruits of their labor rather than have a portion of it confiscated by the government to provide medical care and ESL classes to people that will not respect our sovereignty?

Again, I don't get real worked up over immigration issues. If you want to get your knickers in a twist over it, fine. But, I look at immigration more from the perspective of the poor slob who happens to have been born on the "wrong" side of some imaginary line. All, I repeat ALL, the illegal immigrants I have ever met have been VERY hard working, honest, pretty likable folks. I suppose that there are bad apples in every bunch, but I've never run across any.
If your husband feels threatened by a kid with an eighth-grade education (if that) sneaking over the boarder and working harder, better, and for less pay, than him maybe he should GET A FUCKING EDUCATION so that he won't feel that his job is so easily threatened.

Well Aaron I hate to disagree but I dont believe the DNC is anti-Religious.
You will find heathens on both sides of the aisle, but most at least pay lip service to some sort of Deity.

Of 50 pages the DNC platform takes up, this is what they say about religion. And this is unacceptable for many on the far left of the democratic party.
We'll have to disagree.
We'll have to disagree.
Faith
We honor the central place of faith in our lives. Like our Founders, we believe that our nation, our communities, and our lives are made vastly stronger and richer by faith and the countless acts of justice and mercy it inspires. We believe that change comes not from the top-down, but from the bottom-up, and that few are closer to the people than our churches, synagogues, temples, and mosques. To face today’s challenges–from saving our planet to ending poverty—we need all hands on deck. Faith-based groups are not a replacement for government or secular non-profit programs; rather, they are yet another sector working to meet the challenges of the 21st century. We will empower grassroots faith-based and community groups to help meet challenges like poverty, ex-offender reentry, and illiteracy. At the same time, we can ensure that these partnerships do not endanger First Amendment protections – because there is no conflict between supporting faith-based institutions and respecting our Constitution. We will ensure that public funds are not used to proselytize or discriminate. We will also ensure that taxpayer dollars are only used on programs that actually work.

Let's try to stick to the topic of the thread, shall we.
Can anyone PROVE to me that Invisible Pink Unicorns, or The Flying Spaghetti Monster are any less real than ANY deity?
Or, if that is too complicated, can anyone make a convincing* case that either Jesus was not a man (i.e., human), or humans (i.e., the genus Homo) are not at least 96% genetically identical to chimpanzees (i.e., the genus Pan)?
Oh, and can we forego the name-calling?

Why should they answer any question of yours. You don't like my questions you not only refuse to answer them, you attack my husband as well.
You wouldn't answer them when I asked them originally, claiming they needed their own thread. So I started one and you won't answer them there either.
If you'd like to see an end to name calling, perhaps you should consider putting a lid on the use of vulgarity yourself.

I answered you, you just didn't like my answer.
You are the one who brought your husband into the debate.
Why no finger-waving at TH when he was throwing the term "asshole" around?
Re: Symbols, symbolism, and proof
You didn't answer the questions. All you said was you're not worried about illegal immigrants and the problems they cause Americans. Why shouldn't taxpayers be concerned about the money spent on their education, healthcare, and imprisonment? Why should law-abiding citizens concern themselves with illegal aliens who smuggle drugs, rape, and murder?
Kindly explain why you expect every American citizen to obey every American law, including those which infringe on their civil liberties, yet foreign nationals shouldn't be punished and deported for violating our immigration laws? Because bm doesn't worry about those things?
btw......our borders are not imaginary lines. They are the borders of our nation, part of what defines the USA. If you think the lines are nothing more than figments of overactive imaginations, perhaps you should try living on the other side of those imaginary lines. I think you'll like it. After all, there are a lot of very likable, hardworking, decent folks there.
