Everyone will need an increase in pay if that new 25% AVT (Added Value Tax) the Democrats are talking about is passed by Congress.
Obama would sign that in a heartbeat.

I will, just as soon as you reject your Pension Check and forego your Hospitalization and Medical benefits.

Perhaps if GM made cars that Americans actually wanted, they wouldn't be in this pickle.
Also, keli, it is pathetic - your hiding behind this avatar.

OC,
I don't advocate the government setting wages at the bottom or the top. My curiosity is based on what wages are sustainable as far as manufacturing goes, and if hourly wages and legacy costs are what did in GM, then it is likely that no amount of government subsidy, other than complete, is going to make GM a "success." As far as I can tell, deals were made with the UAW many moons ago without any idea of the competition that was coming, and when cars were being made that actually ran, the previous deals were no longer workable.

Hi Terry,
I agree. I have purchased two new "American" cars and they have both been very disappointing.

Hacker,
That's preciously irrelevant. Someone can be a well-spoken maniac. Or, someone bad with words but good with policy.
I have no use for eloquence when the substance is lacking. Obama is learning right now that well placed words and trisyllabic ability cannot fix a failing economy.
